View Full Version : correct tire space to prevent rubbing

so im sure this has been answered and if so point me in the right direction:hammer: im not using my normal computer so im having problems finding it ..... i am wanting to know whats a good clearance to prevent tire rub.. maybe the ideal clearance then a minimum that i could get by with.....if it helps im running a 315 35 17:yum:

Well you didnt mention what car so Im just going to take a stab at it. Im not an expert nor do I know what Im saying half the time. lol

I have a 73 camaro with 295/30/19 and its pretty tight. I have about 1/2 on the inside and about 3/8ths on the out of clearance. I have no rubbing at all even with bumps. Theres going to be a lot of things that play into whether you have rubbing. How much suspension travel do you have? How low is the car? Are the springs pretty tight? This is just a few things I can think of right now. Im sure more professional ppl will chime in and give a better opinion.

well its a 73 nova and it will have the g-bar..... ride height is still to be determined... but im guessing the rear ride height will be right about to the wheel....it does have dse tubs in it as well
