I'd really love to attend one of these, but I just can't justify it living out West.

^I'm in the same boat. I love a good road trip, but to have to do a roadtrip, to get to the roadtrip, then have another roadtrip to get back home to AZ is quite a strain for me financially and time-wise.

Please let there be a Power Tour on the West side of the country for once!

not crazy about the venues because they are all repeats of stops in the past few years, but ill prolly do the whole thing for the 3rd year in a row. Wished it would of headed west, but everyone says no one would go. i say bs. they would.

Its a strain for most people. Power Tour is on my bucket list, but probably not this year. To be honest, I have a hard time getting excited about a lot of those stops..
I have no idea why they think no one would show up to a west coast power tour...

To my Phoenix AZ friends. Power Tour is NEVER coming west. Yes, it's a long haul but when you get 2 guys in a car you can cover a lot of miles to get to the start and get home. It is a get car trip. I have broke down more times than I want to admit to but am still going again this year. Hopefully I won't hit a dear this year and can drive home!

Ya these are all repeat stops. I figured it would be little different once family events or what ever they where called for the boot last year. The Dells was a mess!

If I had to guess I'd say they do the auto cross at gateway. The other venues seem a little small for it but who knows

After all the BS we had to deal with last year, I'm not doing the whole tour for 2015. All the repeat stops are getting old. I'm about seeing new scenery, not revisiting places I've been to in the last 3 years. The show at Champaign IL didn't impress me at all 3 years ago with all the cars scattered the way they were. And the stop in Madison IL (St Louis)? I hope things have calmed down some when the tour rolls into town come June!!
Hopefully the 2016 tour has some better venues. I'm with the guys that want to see the tour go WEST!!

Im assuming you are talking about the Ferguson thing. I cant see any of those protesters going to the race track, let alone 7 months from now. But who knows, you cant fix stupid.

The locations this year are not interesting, same ol stuff...move off the same stops & areas, I'm with the others that want new scenery. This year I am hitting a smaller tour that is a group who I met on Power Tour, they are hitting some National Parks in September...check out Western Scenic Tour on their Facebook page

Totally awesome news on the 2015 HRPT. Is anyone interested in caravanning from either Toronto or Calgary? We have groups leaving from both points to start the tour. We are just starting to plan the trip so nothing is firm yet. If you have never done the Tour, it is fantastic, great people and a great time, well worth the effort.

I've been twice and hope this is my third long haul. It's about the cars and the people. I could care less about the stops. AZ isn't too bad a haul. I drove to FL to start one that ended on Detroit. Definitely have to go at least once!

I do wish it would go west though. They have cruising the coast on the south side and run through the hills on the easy side. West coast needs something besides all the good coastline scenery and weather!

I certainly agree same ole stops.

Having said that it is very difficult just a find new venues that can accommodate a group this size AND that are available on consecutive days in June when the Tour traditionally happens. The logistics of putting together the tour are not easy particularly when everybody wants different "scenery" every year.

Maybe it is time to go West just once however I can see where the logistics and distance between venues would be a real problem. A 300 mile day on the tour is tough much less 350+ miles. Especially with 2000 cars, 2 lane roads, breakdowns, stops for lunch and activities along the road a 300 mile 5 hour drive easily turns into an 8+ hour drive and then you have very little time at the venue as the day there typically ends at about 6:00 PM.

After all the tour really is about the people and the cars not the venue. More miles each day means less time to interact with people, less time to see the cars and meet new friends. I am amazed they go as many miles as they do.

And yes I have "Long Hauled" many times!

Power-Tour got to big to have the more interesting stops like it use to. Now it has to be all big venues. The Gateway location is horrible for such an event IMO.

Just some thoughts:

Sounds like the heard could use some thinning out to me. Its too easy to put together a long hauler now days. If it were about the long hauler registrations for the event, then this might be acceptable. But being that its more about the draw of spectators and fresh daily entries for advertising, then you still have to rely on visiting highly populated areas. You go much further west of the Mississippi, and the population centers begin to spread out pretty quick.

Maybe they should stay where they are but cover more distance between venues with multiple check in stops along the way. This thins out the caravan and offers multiple places for spectators to come out and see the cars.

No freaking Shade! It's fine for the race track but as far as a hang out goes, the blacktop is brutal in the fine midwest heat.

The Power Tour takes a MINIMUM of 8-10 LONG days to run the long haul on the Power Tour and the Power Tour is only 7 days and 6 stops. Don't forget you gotta get there and then get home!

The Tire Rack one lap this long would take a good 16-20 days to do the whole thing. Not real feasible for many people in this day and time to run the whole thing. Great spectator event if you want to hit the race track close to you to see the cars.

I'm not going this year but every year I've gone they had a hotel site that you went to and picked youre hotel for each night. Made it fast and super easy. I suggest doing that.

Here is the email received yesterday.

Dear Registered Participant,

First and foremost, THANK YOU all for your patience in regards to Hot Rod Power Tour’s Stop #6 on June 11th. We are pleased to inform you that the tour will be at Centennial Plaza in Gulfport, MS, on that day. Quite a few of you did surmise it would be in that neck of the woods. Good guessing!

Route/Driving Directions – we’ve had a few emails regarding where someone can find the HRPT route. We will post the actual driving directions in the Hot Rod Power Tour section of hotrod.com about a month before the event. Printed copies will also be available at credential pick up and at the main stage each day.

Again, thank you so much for your patience while we finalized Stop #6!

Yup, absolutely. I took my 2012 F150 during 2012 tour, since I was picking up a 68 Mustang on the way back. I saw everything on 4 wheels, including Huyndai's, Honda's, and a blacked out Prius.

It looks like Strange Engineering will have our display Bus be at the Champaign and Madison Il. stops. Since that is my Birthday I have scheduled vacation time to attend at least two stops.
I'm trying to talk the power that be to let me take one of our test cars, 2001 Trans Am or 2010 Supercharged Camaro. Super excited for this.
Hopefully I don't break anything at the Gladiator Assault run the weekend before.

I'm with the guys that want to see the tour go WEST!! The Champaign stop is at the junior college and not at the U of I. I hope it means less walking, but we'll see. They have a lot of parking lot space but it is spread out around the school. I would expect it to be concentrated in the lots on the North side (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Parkland+College/@40.1317952,-88.2912597,944m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x880cda81cf955607:0x48e13 6ac61e8b029) since the auto tech is on that side. It's nice for me because I live across the street from it. The autocross will be fine there, they have races there several times a year. Check out the auto tech class facilities there, really nice. If you have any questions about the are feel free to email me at my username @ yahoo mail. This is all I can find. I have heard rumors of an autocross at the first stop in Madison, WI.

There will be drag racing fun runs on the June 8 stop at Gateway Motorsports Park and on June 9 at Memphis International Raceway. Past cruise night experiences have included autocrosses, bands, drive-in movies, or special prize giveaways. The beauty of Hot Rod Power Tour is that no two days are alike!

Richard,

I look forward to seeing you. We are trying to get the Camaro all dialed in this week, as Scott says he is long hauling. I can only afford the last four stops, but I am going to make the most of it. I plan on Auto-crossing and drag racing at the venues that offer it. Keep an eye on Jones for me, he has not had good luck with transmissions this year.
