Here are some update pics of the camaro i'm working on. I just got the inner and outer rocker panels installed and the 1 piece floor pan (witch fit really well). It's finally starting to look like a car again.

You are doing a super job! How did you set up the frame work to hold the body so solid?

Lotsa work there. BTW, are those trailer spindles/hubs on the rotissure(sp?) for rotating the body? If so you stole my idea :crying: :)

RESTOMOD-I built the fixture for a previous car that needed a lot less work then modified it a little for this one. The car had attaching points at the front frame mounts, rockers panels, front and rear ends of the frame rail, under the trunk pan, and at the rear bumper mounts. When the floor pan was gone I made some supports that went up to the shoulder seat belt mount in the roof structure. This would hold the car pretty solid while there was nothing attached to the back. Hope that answered your question.

MYCLONE- Yes those are trailer spindle/hubs. It's the only way to go.

TRILOGYZ28- Yeah it took more than a 10 foot pole to touch it. It took a 20 foot chain. :lmao: And yes basically everything on the car is a repop: Roof, Full Floor, Inner rockers, Outer rockers, Full trunk, Tail panel, inner tailpanel, inner/outer wheel wells, Quarters, Decklid, Tulips, Dash Top, and 3/4 length framerails. Other than that the car was pretty solid.

C.SHULZ Yeah I'll try give you shout next week. This week I'm pretty busy with school.

Howd you get the older metal soo clean? dip it?

Thanks for the comments. I used spray-on bedliner for the under-side (which gave it a nice texture), it was by Dupli-color, which you can also paint over for the color of your choice. As far as the metal goes, we had it dipped by a local company here in the Detroit area called "International Paint Striping". More updated pictures to follow, soon. Thanks :drive:

3M has one that runs about 75.00 and the cheaper ones I've seen for around 25.00 any good auto paint supplier would carry them.

That looks great!! Who's quarter panels and sheet metal did you use? Did they fit pretty well? I'm doing a 69 Firebird and trying to decide if I need to spend 2k on NOS quarters or if the OER/Goodmark ones will do ok for way less $$.

eguyett1985: We used Goodmark quarters. they fit nicer than the OER ones, But they still needed a little attention at the door jamb and the trunk area to get nice gap contours. I still would rather use them and spend a little extra work than paying the big $$$ for NOS.

C.schulz: Thats cool Chris. I'm usually home every evening except on Tuesdays.

Billy...I'm over in Chesterfield, Michigan. I'm very interested in that spray-on bedliner that you put on your undercarriage. I am going to be in that area on my '68 in about a month or so. Can you give me some detailed information on it? What's the name brand of the bedliner application, where you bought it from, etc. The car looks absolutely sensational. Did you powder-coat your control arms grey?

72novadriver
04-01-2005, 05:55 PM
Thanks For the Comments.

Tony, The bedliner I beleive was made by Duplicolor. I'll find the details on it and let you know. I just picked it up at a local auto paint store. As for the Control arms, I got them unassembled painted them then had them assembled.

Here are a few update pics on how the project is going.

Very nice !!!! I have a couple of questions. Is that a new roof? If so where did you get it and how much do they cost?

My metal area that holds the front and rear glass is in bad shape. Does the new roof panel go down into the windshield channel (both front and rear)?

Any ideas or replacement metal kits for the side post channels that holds the glass? I'm afraid I'll have to make something myself....

Your thoughts. Thanks.

Yes it is a new roof, I got it from D&R. I think it was just under $300

Yes.

I dont know of any kits right now. So your probably going to have to make something. Hope this helps.
