------------------------------------------------------------------
These engines are a bit different than the LS.

-Engine mount pattern is different

-Header flange pattern & tube spacing is different.
These are what come on the LT1 crate:

And these are a potentially more swap-friendly truck manifold:

-The new C7 has electric steering so no hydraulic power steering pump is available yet. Street & Performance has a serpentine drive with an aftermarket Sanden AC compressor, about $1900 for the kit.
The GM serpentine kit with AC and alternator only is part number 19329990.

-LT1/4's have an 8-bolt crankshaft pattern, which is the same pattern as the LSA. The clutch/flywheel kits for the LSA fit the LT1/4.

-The bell housing pattern is just about identical.. But the top bolt is in a different location. The new 4L65/70 E's that come in the connect & cruise kits for these engines have an extra hole to bolt to them. See picture below. At this time we're unsure how different the 4L80E will fit.

-The GM steel bell housing for T56's has the hole in the right spot, and is large to accept their clutch kit.
-There are TWO different oil pans - dry sump & wet sump. The dry sump has a shorter (front to back) sump. Wet sump oil pans may require notching. Don't worry, there's plenty of room in the front of the sump to make that happen.
Wet sump:

Note these oil pans have no gasket.. Just RTV! And they're pretty heavy....

-The T56 Super Magnum that GM released is the same as the Magnum dimensionally, but the shifter is different, and there is a 40-tooth reluctor for the speed sensor, which is only required for the E-Rod systems. It's also a close-ratio setup.

We'll update this thread with more details as they come available! If anyone has any more knowledge on these, feel free to post a reply- we all have room to learn about these Gen 5's :)

What's the deal with the ECU? Can it be programmed for standalone operation?

Just like the LS's kit, the Chevy Performance controller kit is standalone, not hooked to the BCM or transmission.

The only fun part we can see is tuning with the variable valve timing which is pre-set in the PCM. We haven't tuned on these yet though, many others have.

Looks like Speartech offers a harness package for them too.

How about the exhaust? Will a set of LS headers work on a LT1? Are the exhaust ports/exits the same as the LS?

No. Completely different. The LT1 is direct injected. Nothing from the LS bolts up.

The only similarities are the crank flanges having an LSA pattern for the flywheel or flexplate.

Why would anyone want an LT1 motor lol

GM should release the ZR1 quad cam motor

I dunno, maybe the really nice increase of power across the entire power curve?

That is one weird looking water pump! Hopefully gm makes these easy to swap just like the ls engines!!

Are the new LT1 and LT4s still pushrod engines?
Anf why does a 9k engine not have forged pistons?

Yes they are.
It has DoD, direct injection, and 460hp out of the box and quite efficient- most Corvette owners are getting 30mpg.

I'm speaking with Kevin @ Katech about an engine package. Their stage II crate engine package should run about 5k. According to their website that equates to 600 RWHP in a vette on a chassis dyno naturally aspirated. With massive tq right off throttle that's pretty impressive.

I just ordered the GM bell housing from Summit Racing.

Nice. I also noticed in the 2016 GM Performance catalog that was released @ SEMA, an LT1 hot cam / CNC head package. It says it should be available 2nd quarter of 2016.. so a little waiting time. I know there are other cam kits out there like the Katech though.

Awesome stuff! I sold my Ls7 to go LT1. Huge amounts of untapped potential in these new engines.

Yes sir.

I'll post prices later/tomorrow for those. The AC compressor on many stock serp drives run into adapter plates and engine mounts though. Not 100% sure on the GM kit though.

Cdog, did I read that correctly? 600 rwhp? What is done? That's almost 700 crank hp!
