I'm in need of quarter panel and door skins on my 69 Firebird. AMD produces the door skin, but do not produce the quarters for the Firebirds. I have located a passenger NOS quarter for $1000, but I would still need to purchase the driver side in an after market quarter. All the research I come across references the Camaro. There seem to be limited information on the fitment of the after market panel for the Firebird. I'm hoping I can get some feed back from individuals that have came across fitment issues, and the quality of panels. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We ordered full quarter panels from Classic Industries for my dad's '69 convertible, and the fit on them was awful....just awful. So much so, that it made us sell the project in favor of just buying a decent, driver quality convertible that he can start driving next season! haha I mean, the project was just more than we could handle at this part in our lives, and it was doomed from the start really. But, after going over to his barn to work on it here and there, for 4-5 hours at a time....cutting, grinding, clamping, screwing, checking gaps, and not getting any further than when you started, it was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

And, this is coming from someone who was a body man for 10 years, and in the industry since I was 14! So, I was definitely NOT a novice by any means. This was however, my first attempt at a ground up restoration of a classic car, so maybe some of the other guys on this site know some tricks or secrets that I don't know? I could've gotten it eventually, but at the pace I was going, it would have taken a decade to get the car on the road.

you might check Dynacorn.com or Goodmark.com I don't know if they have them or not but worth a try. I'm wondering if all body panels are made by the same company and sold under other names here in the states.

Unfortunately, aftermarket body panels are crap. Even a quality company like Dynacorn or NPD has crappy body panels. Purchase from Rock Auto who knows what you'll get. When you order an aftermarket panel you always expect double the hours to install. In the past I have had to cut and reweld the quarter panel striker location just to get good gaps. Same with the trunk area. Just be patient and be sure to line everything up BEFORE you weld.

Thanks for the reply's! I broke down and ordered the quarters from Yearone, and the door skins from AMD. Weeks of research resulted in very little info on the Firebird Panels. The best advise I found, was to be patient.

That's why they call it a virtue... (patience) and yes, plenty of patience.

I have aftermarket 1/4s on my car. Ended up going with partial quarters to save as much original steel as possible. Fitment was just okay. Even cutting them up took a bit. They are fine for a driver. If you're creating a show car is really look for some NOS.

AMD is made in the USA, unfortunately they dont make firebird quarters. Im in the same boat right now and from what I have heard Goodmark isn't that good

I'm not sure who? Manufactures them, but my partials were sourced from Ames Performance.

You can see they came out fairly straight.

I called Ames and spoke with the customer service. She stated, they used three vendors for there quarter. Goodmark, Golden Legion and Dynacorn. Their orders from there suppliers are based on available, price and if the purchaser has a specific request for a specific brand.

Nice Bird! What color did you go with?

Hard to see in the photo but it's a black base with a green pearl in it. Not sure on the name, but it is a gm paint code.

I wanted to keep the factory green indoor without it looking like a trash bag, seemed like a good choice.
