I am wondering if anyone here has had trouble mounting Dakota Digital VHX gauges in a 69 Camaro with the factory housing. I have been fighting with this for over a month. The Dakota Digital gauges both measure the same size so there is no problem there. The gauge fits perfect in the left hole of the factory bezel. However the hole that is on the right side is bigger and so even with the gauge installed there is a gap around the entire gauge large enough that I can clearly see the foam tape while sitting in the seat. Again the gauges are the same size so it doesn't matter which gauge is in which hole.

Originally the gauge in the right hole wouldn't press in far enough to be flush. It also looked like it was cocked a little. I made the mounting holes larger so that I could move the gauge up and to the side and this helped to where the gauge now mounts flush, but the gap is still there. I have spoken with the dealer that I bought the gauges from as well as Dakota Digital and neither has heard of this.

For a comparison I measured the gap with a feeler gauge. The gap around the left gauge is about .019 on all sides. The gap on the right hand gauge is .05 at the bottom, 0.7 on the sides and .12 at the top. I am looking to see if anyone has run into this before. Also if you have these gauges in an aftermarket housing which one do you have and how is the fitment.
Thanks,
Brian
