Gents.

I really need to tackle my wiring this winter, and havent seen any discussion on these 2 systems. I dont have a large wad of cash, but have been considering the ISIS kit (done a lot of research) as an investment. It has a TON of options and all programmable. It would simplify wiring, make everything modifyable and controlled through a tablet etc. Im going for a classic look in the interior, but Ill have a clean placement of a tablet for my Holley EFI system and the wiring. It will take years but I will make a super car out of this, and Id hate to do the wiring twice lol. My wiring isnt terrible, just not right and a little chaotic. The goal is an integrated system with room to grow in the future. I figured some discussion to this point would help a lot of guys and at least get the wheels turning. If your building a stripped aoutox car or a grand tourer I am sure something in between is what you may be looking for. Goals for me eventually: 900+ hp daily driver I can take to a road course or cruise cross country with AC and tunes. Just like most people here haha. Rome wasnt built in a day.

Both systems have youtube videos that explain the system (ISIS videos really in depth, easy to understand)

Some of the Pros and Cons I see:

ISIS: http://infinitybox.com/infinitybox-advantage/
Pros-
-Fully programmable (everything from the speed of your windows and the rate of your blinkers to basic circuitry)
-expandable for the future (can add on modules for key fob, alarm, AC integration etc....)
-Simple wiring
-Very high quality (they do all the OEM tests with heat, salt water etc)

Cons:
-COST! These are the systems some high dollar Sema builds use.I think I may be able to get at least started for 1-1.5k. Then small upgrades from there.
-Reliance. This is an awesome system, but what happens if they go out of business? Maybe a small concern, but with Holley I can order OEM parts etc. Not a huge deal, but a consideration.
-Independence. From my understanding you have to email ISIS and they program the system how you want. An easy, quick process from what Ive heard and possibly better, but still something to consider if you want to DIY for everything or worried they may not be around forever.

We dont know much on the blackbox from Ron Francis yet because it just debuted at Sema. It should be available in December from what Ive read. I plan on giving them a call in the next few days, so if you know more please let us know some more. But from Ive seen all I can come up with is:

RF Black box: http://www.ronfrancis.com/prodinfo.asp?number=BX%2D10
Pros-
-COST! One box has 10 outputs and cost $299
-Expandability. You can add more boxes easily
-Simplicity. Looks like you program yourself using buttons or something to this affect. Also works similar to traditional systems.
-Future upgrades. In the Spring they are saying they will have bluetooth capability with iphones etc (cool).

Cons-
-Not a whole lot of info yet, so if your doing it this winter like I am I'd call (not a concern for most)
-Not as developed. They're just coming out with this. Im sure it will be awesome, but we'll have to wait for newer add ons.

Well either way I intend to use that awesome heat shrink loom Ron Francis makes lol.

Thats the extent of my thoughts and what I can see so far. Im sure theres a lot of people more savvy than I who can shed more light on this (or perhaps a system I havent seen). I know a basic wiring harness will be around $500, so thats a factor. Ive always liked Ron Francis' stuff, just trying to make an educated decision. Both of these systems have a place, and are a perfect match for different builds. Just curious what you guys think, and I thought some discussion would make us all more intelligent.

BTW, fairly certain ISIS is now called InfinityBox. This just changed so I used the old name so people would know. As an Afghan Vet I dont blame 'em for changing their name lol.

Thanks!
Paul

I'd say Infinity box!

Also have it and Jay has the best service!
quality is perfect and a lots off add ons as wifi, Apps, and the system reports when something is malfunctioning.

They also have diff. types of use goals (Street, road race, drag race) to go cheaper. They are also working with the pioneer system.

And programming, you can do it yourself.

ISIS from my end, in the middle of the process of installing it right now and the simplicity and flexibility is well worth the added $$$.

I have the 3 cell kit, inmotion, and inreserve in my '49 Buick. Works great, one word of advice is get their inreserve kit. you will need it, without a battery tender it will drain the battery in 2-3 weeks of being parked.

Were an ISIS dealer (PM for a quote if you decide!) and have done several installs on customer vehicles. It does take a bit of time to figure everything out, especially because a lot of the switches are negative instead of positive... but it's a pretty sweet system. The possibilities are endless. You can program it yourself with another add-on unit for like $400 I believe.
ISIS is part of LittelFuse , the big electronics company. I wouldn't imagine they will be going out anytime soon! :)

Guys,

Thanks for all the input. Seems like Infinity Box is the best option from what you guys are saying. Didnt know you could program yourself, so thats really cool. Since I have a few months of winter I can get the stuff I need initially and then add on. Dale, I took a look at your guys website and man you guys have a hell of a garage lol. Ill definitely give you guys a call and see what you think I should start out with.

Thanks again!

Paul

Infinity wire is what I choose for my winter project ha ha! Just getting started in laying out and mounting all my devices. I am running 3 power cells engine, center console, and trunk. All wiring is ran down the middle of the Trans tunnel. And battery in trunk. Here is what I accomplished this weekend. Now I'm in the hunt for some metri and weather pak connectors and tools.

Man that's a clean build. Mine will be pull the interior and figure it out lol. I'm calling schwarz tomorrow, already spoke with ISIS and the owner talked to me for 15 minutes, gave a discount and a follow up email. Really impressed. Plus all the youtube videos etc, more tech support than Holley efi lol.

Does anyone have any experience with the BlackBox yet?
