Hey Guys, I just wanted to vent some frustration. Got news today they are closing the doors at our facility as of Dec 31st. About 120 plant workers and several dozen in the offices are history. The company I work for is Jeld-Wen, we make interiors doors at our facility but the company also makes exterior doors and windows as well. I guess I am hoping for a transfer within the company maybe North Carolina or Georgia, but if that doesn't happen I will make do locally. If bad becomes worse I may sell my camaro as well so hopefully that wont happen but may end up puttting it up 4-sale and see what I can get from it. Thanks guys for the shoulder to cry on. Todd
If you're good at building cars, Road Killer Kustoms has a thread in the "Help Wanted" thread. They are in Canton, GA.

Man, that really sucks, sorry to hear that. I really hope things work out for you, and you don't have to sell your camaro. Hopefully you'll end up with an even better job.

I hate to hear this Todd. I guess with all the hurricanes and building in general, there was not a demand for interior doors right now??????????
These companies Kill me, they can cut production by closing a plant, then up their prices because of supply and demand. Come on south, you will like it here better anyway. Are you in production or office? I have connections here, if I can help, let me know.

Hey man, sorry to hear of your job loss. Mid-Missouri has a real employment problem right now. The unemployment is below 1 percent and there are decent jobs for Dana and Gates Rubber down here. Columbia, Missouri is the area, if you are interested in a move. Best of luck.

Hey Bill, We were profitable for them we are not in their "global outlook". We are unable to expand in our facility and have two other very large operations in Iowa and Michigan to take the work load. So we leave our options open and could be very interested in a Southern move. I am in the production side of the spectrum, but I do have management experience not with this company though. PM me with details always interested in new ventures. Thanks everone for your compassion, my family and I appreciate you all.

If you do not mind the cold they are screaming for workers at the oil sand plants in Canada as the price of crude gone through the roof, and are expanding. New $4bn plant being built up there.

Sorry to hear that Todd. I've been through this recently as well. The past 5 or so years have been some of the toughest in my life but things are starting to get better. Just remember what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I know you probably don't see it now but somehow we all seem to make it out of these spots. Good Luck with your next job...and you will find a good job, and always feel free to vent hear.

I will guys thanks. Canada is a little on the cold side for me. Although I think my daughter is the only snowbug in the family, she loves the snow, but I think all kids do.

Don't worry, she will outgrow it. Even we Canucks learn to hate the stuff on occasion.

Sorry to hear.. I feel you pain since 3 years ago I was "downsized" from a company I worked at for 14 years.. sucked..
BUT, things went ok.. I found another gig right away and that led me to where I am today. The moral of the story is that things will work out, just keep a positive outlook and don't give up.
Best of luck to you and hang tough!

Hey Kinred...They're a monster, and not just in size. I think they are closing a couple more as well. I might try and get a job at the Hummer plant in Mishawaka, it's a little less than a hour from my house, but it pays a little better.
