Long time viewer first time post-er. This build thread will be mostly bolt on and some light fab work. New to the Pro-Touring scene. Goal is to ENJOY the car, so car shows, poker runs, do the Power Tour at least once and would like to try my hand at autocross. So my background started like most, my dad taking me to a car show and was hooked. My love affair was GM... until (like the title of the thread is referenced to the Limp Bizkit song) an ex-girlfriend introduced me to a 99 Cobra. It was as if I was that kid going to his first car show all over again. I had to have one. A 2 month search took me to Texas for a black 2001 Cobra Coupe. Its been a roller coaster ever since. All that can be posted in a different thread. On to the build.....

The BAIN of this cars existence! This has been a problem since day one 8 years ago and the sole reason for the removal of the engine.

If you're going to put longtubes on there I highly recommend the Bassani headers. I had them in my 03 Mach 1 and were fairly easy to put in for a 32v. All the primaries go in separately and the collect goes on last.

I like how you think sir. I went with Bassani mid length. Was going to go long tube but had a job opportunity in California at the time of purchase so I had to think green. Job didn't turn out so just going to keep the mid length.

Just some advice, it comes with gaskets that go on the inside of the flange for each primary. I wouldn't use those. I know that I pulled them back out and installed the stock gaskets after a couple days because they were leaking. I don't remember 100% if I put some copper rtv on there when I reinstalled them but I'm thinking that I did.

Mach Par, thanks for the info. I actually bought gaskets before I received the headers but their instructions say that you can only use the ones supplied because of the cast flanges. If you used oem with better luck then I will use mine. I have stage 8 bolt set but will have to modify the locking part slightly on some of them because of that cast flange flange.

A few parts showed.

Tokico front struts. Non adjustable. I did not go with adjustable up front because I did not go with adjustable in the rear. So I keep the theme going. I did however buy Fox body struts. They are almost an inch shorter then SN95 struts. Ever little bit counts, am I right ladies.... ah hmm cough.

New rear lower shock mounts. The car still bottoms out on big bumps. Even after the complete overhaul of the back suspension. It should lower the shock to where I need to raise the coil over to compensate and extend shock travel. Fingers crossed its enough. I will try and get to the storage shed today and take some pictures. Its freezing here in Illinois and really no heat source so it was a stupid move not to start during the summertime. Live and learn.

Coil over springs. Hyperco 350# in 9 inches.

Part of the new K member kit from UPR. I will get more pictures once I have room to spread it all out and clean all the old parts. That bolt is nasty. Good news is that I did not have to shell out the clams for the bolt kit. It already had 10.9 grade hardware!

Thanks Josh, I know what you mean! Either old or new, not a whole lot of mustangs on here. I know they are out there. I will take you up on that offer. Just installed the lowering kit for the rear shocks and somethings off. I need to get the front end put together and make it a roller so I know its level. Then re-adjust the coil overs and see how far off its. But from the passenger side to the driver side there is a big difference in how its adjusted.

Well a little back story on the car is that when I got it back home and on a lift i found this.... an 8.8 rear end! At that time twin turbo's was just getting huge and a buddy said that he wished he had the straight axel. So I kept it the way it was and had the dealer take some money off. Hindsight I wish I would have went with the independent rear. 2 years ago I tore out the rear end. You can just barely see but went with a torque arm setup. Put the diff cover on and painted it with POR15.

Did some motor work the other night and uploaded some pictures. Wrapped the headers and mocked them up. Cleaned the surface of the flange area.

The black stuff on there is silicone tape. Good to 700 degrees so it will most likely melt off but it helps hold the ends from coming loose.

Also worked on front shocks. Had to take a little metal off to get it to sit right.

Sweet! What all are you doing with the engine?
