Hi everyone!

Ive got a question about the paint for a car. I think you guys know the maier mustang? How much do you guys think that you pay for that blue paint job ? If you want to see the car, look at www.maiermotorsports.com

Paint quotes are tough. A respray without doing any bodywork could be around $4-5k.. While a full bodywork and paint job can cost $10-15k.

Maier Motorsports is no longer Maier Motorsports. The new name is now Mike Maier, Inc. and he is located in Livermore, CA. and the telephone number on the Maier Motorsports website is not the telephone number for Mike Maier, Inc.

I just got my 66 coupe back a couple weeks ago from paint. I did all the sheet metal and prep'd it as best I could, took it down to metal with a light coat of primer to prevent rust. The objective was to keep body work, skim coat under 1/16". My painter was more then vocal about the time spent blocking and sanding. You can expect to see costs of $7 to 8K for complete paint, even with you doing the work. Remember, the interior needs painting too. I was see quotes in excess of $10-12K for full paint and body, and I did most of the prep work and dismantling.

Paint is the least expensive cost in the process, its all the work leading up to it that cost money. You get what you pay for: single stage or base with clear coat. If you want a very good looking car base & clear coat, budget $8K, if you're just running a quick paint track car, you can expect less than half that price with single stage and no body work. In fact scenarios like that its just simpler to find the paint color you want and go to one-stop shops that you can get in and out for roughly $1000.

To a certain degree you also get what you pay for in paint.

My brother in law had his car painted by one of those local places for $299. It met all his conditions...no longer having a multi colored car. It was a good 50 footer. But once you start to look at the work you can tell they let a small child tape off the car. They also did zero body work, literally just re-sprayed the car.
