I have been kicking this around in my head for some time now and feel a bit bewildered and overwhelmed. Hoping some who have been there can steer me in the right direction. I have a 69 Camaro with a decent but not great paint, body seems solid ( always a question mark there, lol), a big block that makes lots of noise and chugs the gas. I have rewired the car and upgraded the rear end. Future plan is for an ls3/4l65, body and paint, mild interior upgrade. I can't budget or want to take on everything at once and don't want to have the car down forever either. My question is what would be the best order to proceed? I will do most of the work myself with the exception of body and paint. Sorry about writing a book, but really appreciate any input on this.

if the body looks pretty good and seems solid I would personally get someone who knows how to swap in LS motors where you are(crosses fingers) and only have it down for that time..
honestly I am pretty against Paint Jail if its is a pretty decent looking car and fairly solid.
and it shouldnt take someone who knows how to swap STOCK ls motors into 69 Camaros more than a month if all the parts are there.. hell two weeks if they are proficient.
This is my paint and suffering honest opinion based on the EXPERIENCE of my cars.. beware the bullshieters mechanics.. they are errywhere.

I would second that. Swap the drive train and drive the car and have fun with it. Next I would come up with a plan for suspension upgrades. Paint can wait.
