My name's Tim, I'm from San Diego. I have a 1974 chevy nova. I have changed directions on too many times to count. I picked it up for pretty cheap from a friend and it had no breaks a very tired ready to blow 400 and was sitting for a few years. Aside from that it was his high school car that has been handed around by high schoolers a few times so the quality of work on just about every thing is below par. First plans were just to get it drive able send enjoy it as I have to many other projects that I'm far more interested in and quite frankly I'm an f body guy. Then I wanted do build a nice daily driver with modern luxerys and let the wife drive it around. Then I wanted to drag it. So after dragging around this car from house to house and slowly dissecting it to use parts for my other cars over the last 5 years, I decided I missed my good handling cars of my past. So i decided to go this rout with this car sadly it is a budget build though. If your still reading after the long intro hear is what I have done, doing, and plan to do as money permits.
Done:
Stock control arms poly bushings
.9" upper ball joint. New stock lower
New tie rods and sleeves new pitman arm and idler arm.
Hotckis sport lowering springs and bilstiens on all 4 corners
1 1/4" front sway bar and 7/8" sway bar in the rear
subframe connectors
Traction bars
2.73 geared possi 10 bolt
275 60 15 in the rear and 235 60 15 in the front.
Mostly stock 350 with a b&m th350
Currently in doing:
Building a dz302 with original but modified parts lightened crank lightened rods and pistons. I got the rotating assembly for free under the bases that I build it and use it from my dad and getting the machine work for free and the parts at cost under the basis that I run the car at the track from time to time.
Undecided on heads and cam still.
Plan on doing:
Plan on converting to a 4 speed car when I'm done building the engine or when my clutch foot heals
Bigger breaks in front and disc conversation in the rear.
I wanna run 275 40 17 in the front and not sure of rear yet. Also want to put the car on a major diet
4 link the rear
After that probably go back and do coil overs in the front with different control arms and stiffen the chassis more.

The pics are before and after the lowered one is almost where I'm at now I don't have current pics though

Hey all you San Diego guys, come out to Qualcomm stadium THIS SUNDAY, Nov 9th, we get 8-12 pro-touring cars in the new CAM class at the SCCA Autocross running hard around the cones. We run after lunch so stop by before to have a hot dog and check out the cars, it's free to hang out and watch. If anyone wants to run their car come by and we will guide you through it. Welcome!

now that I have it running I wanna swap motors with my truck lol I might be bussy Monday. Think it's do able to pull 2 motors and put one back in in one day?

Welcome! I'm also in San Diego, Mira Mesa area. I might have to swing by and see the autocross. My buddy Mike runs the green Mustang in that pic. I have ran autocross in years. Had fun doing it. :)

It was cool seeing all the CAM guys run today. My buddy Mike Young ran his basically bone stock '72 Chevelle, BFG T/A's and all. I told him to lower his tire pressures and he managed to cut a couple seconds off his worse run and get into the 59's. LOL Few of these cars were seriously fast.
