I've gotten myself into a bit of a pickle and need some help from the smart people on this forum.

I'm trying to get my front wheels to fit, and ultimately decide where I'm going to spend my money. I've got C4 ZR1 wheels (ala Red Witch) that I'm trying to fit on my 67 Camaro. The ones I've got for the front are 17" x 9.5" wheels with a 6.7" backspace, and they obviously don't fit. I bought these, knowing that I would need to have them cut down. Everyone says that an 18" x 8" with a 5" backspacing fits 67 and 68 Camaros, so I'm assuming that a 17" x 8 with a 5" backspacing should also fit (???). So, if I have my wheels cut down to 8" (1.5" reduction), that would effectively reduce my backspacing to 5.2"... is that right? So I would then need to put a spacer in to cover that .2 of a inch, and I should be good? Am I thinking about that right?

The other problem that I seem to be having is the steering arm is getting in the way. I've read up on Carl C's site about the short, medium, and long steering arms. I'm not sure which I have yet (I'm going to pull them off to measure), but I'm certain I don't have the short ones. How do I get around that? I've looked all over and can't find short arms for sale, and no one seems to sell aftermarket ones, at least that I can find. Could I use something like this: http://www.classicindustries.com/product/camaro/parts/sd3009.html but flipped around backwards? That part is a bit of a stretch... I know. Just curious how I should go about getting that steering arm out of my way.

Ultimately what I'm trying to figure out here is can I make these wheels fit, or am I about to waste $500 having them cut down and they still won't fit... and then subsequently won't be able to sell them.

Thanks for any help / insight you guys might have.

Dan
