Hello im new to the pro touring forum. Ive been contemplating this build for a long time. Here is the story. I restored my dads 77 k10 lwb about 6 years ago and have put maybe 300 miles on it since. Ive never been happy with the ride and handling so im gonna make it into a swb c10. I found a late 80s frame to start with. The 406 sb is getting put aside and im going with a ls376. I will never get rid of this truck i remember when my dad bought it and we drove it home from the dealership. It was his first brand new vehicle he ever bought and the truck i learned to drive in. Enough rambling any suggestions are welcome.

Love it!. I have my Dad's first truck in my backyard (1976 C-10 stepside) As much as I'd like too, it's waaaaaaaayyyyyy too rusty to restore.

This one had a little rust in the cab corners when i restored it but not bad.

Looks like your pretty deep into it, what are your suspension plans?

Pete,
I am still on the fence for suspension. Ive looked into porterbuilt, roadstershop,Scotts, and no limits. I want to play with a bit of autocross but mainly the truck will be ran on mountain roads locally. Anyone have some suggestions?

no color change. The only thing that needs painted is the short box that i picked up. Im stripping the firewall because im going to a vintage air system so the firewall is getting cleaned up.

A good friend of mine had one that same color when I was at Wyoming Tech. I have never seen another one like it until just now. Cool truck!

Personally I would go with No Limit. Great support from them on this site I think.

I liked it as a 4X4. I'm going to like it as a C10!

Wow, beautiful truck. Love the story behind it to.
Are you going to keep it a 4x4? Would be sweet as an AWD SWB.

I got a package from gm yesterday. Brand new ls376

Question on what to go with on the rear suspension?
1. parallel 4 link
2. triangulated 4link (dont see many using this but ive built a few for rock racers and they work great for that application)
3. 3 link with a panhard.
4. trailing arm.

I would like to run a 12" rear wheel so im leaning towards the trailing arm. I see that porterbuilt offers a nice looking trailing arm setup. The motor is 515 hp with a automatic behind it so im not trying to put a ton of h.p. to the ground. What do you guys think?

Triangulated or trailing arms in my opinion.

Back on track with this project. Parts took longer than expected. Put the trailing arm suspension in and found that the lower cross bar is making love to the m9 housing. Spoke to Nate and he is fabing one with a bend in it.

Ah, PB, I thought the lasered in logo's were RS. My bad. Looks like a nice suspension! In for front suspension pics! Did you go with a crate engine?

Looking good! Are those the Holley coil/valve covers? Makes it look more like a big block.

cool build! thank you I'm shooting for cool.

Enjoying the progress. thank you it seems like I'm one step forward two steps back.

That looks incredible, nicely done. thank you im a firm believer that form and function should be together.

I had a set back with the frame stiffener. The porterbuilt x member/link mount was contacting the bottom of the cab. I couldn't move it rearward because it would put the rear axle back as we'll due to I was adjusted all the the way in on my spherical ends. Plus I wanted to run long tube headers to scavenge the exhaust. Turns out they exit at the top of the frame where my stiffener was. So long story short i cut it all out. Here is my solution. Move the member down in the chassis. Then put 3" x pipe in to scavenge the exhaust further and build a new frame stiffener around this new configuration.
