Last summer my buzzer started buzzing when the key was NOT in the ignition and the door is open. When the key is in and the door is open, it doesn't buzz. The exact opposite of what it should and used to do for many years. So, do I need a new ignition switch? Is it a bad ground? Not even sure where to start on this one. I didn't make any changes when this started. It just started doing it out of the blue. When it first started, I could jiggle the ignition switch and it would go away. Now, the only way to make it stop is to put the key in. What do you guys think?

Are you familiar with taking these columns apart? If you remove the lock plate and turn signal assembly, you'll see a plastic insert located immediately below the ignition switch with two copper prongs coming off and making contact with the turn signal switch assembly. This little insert will pull straight out, and operates by the key being inserted, and the copper paths being making contact and completing the buzzer circuit. Sounds to me like this insert has probably fallen apart. I haven't seen many go bad, but if you can get the column apart check it out, then you'll have a properly working buzzer (my 75 Astre still has it fully functional. It is a little annoying, but the fact that it still works is cool, and I left it in place), or you can find the wires through the turn signal switch, and remove them from the connector.

Thanks. I'll take it apart and take a look.
