I'm considering buying a "used" but essentially new AirRide Shockwave HQ/Airpod setup for my '70 Mustang. The kit is supposedly unused except for being test fitted, and was purchased new in early 2010. I've always wanted to go with AirRide since seeing the reviews from RTTH2 & 3, and the "Editor's Challenge" event, but RideTech has made significant updates since then, and now I'm not sure how the older system compares. Of course, budget also matters a great deal, so I'm a bit torn and could use some feedback from AirRide system owners/users.

1. Is the newer stuff that much better?

2. Is the older system still as worthwhile an upgrade?

3. What's a reasonable price for the older system? Shockwave HQs front and rear, Airpod, all purchased new in 2010.

4. Anything else I should be thinking about?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated... dropping a few grand is an intimidating prospect.

Wyatt,
Can you post some pics of the parts you wish to purchase? That will tell me what shocks are in there, and if the mounting points and everything else are ok.

What are your intentions for the car? That tells me what level of shock technology you'll require.
As you have indicated we've made HUGE progress in the past few years on our shock packages, which have resulted in better ride quality and better performance. However, that doesn't mean the old Shockwaves are that outdated. Depending on the shocks used, the overall condition, and your desires for the car they may be just right.

Thanks for the replies and offer of help. After thinking about it and looking at my priorities for the car, I've decided against the purchase for the time being. Honestly, considering I'd have to purchase the rear 4 link bar to complete the package, and the cost of the "used" stuff, I'd be within a stone's throw of purchasing a Level 2 CoilOver kit, which includes those nice StrongArms (as opposed to running the OE style arms). For the set-it-and-forget-it kinda guy that I am, that seems like a much better solution.

But again, thanks guys.
