This carburated LS3 consumes more fuel than an EFI one ?

not much more...my LS is carbureted and with the factory 4 speed, 750Holley, and 3.55 rear gears I still get almost 20 MPG (actually about 19+) it cruises the free way at 3000 RPM at 70MPH with that 4-speed,3.55 combo.....if i had a 5 or 6 speed it would get better mileage

The 6 speed is where a majority of your MPG is going to come from. Especially the more highway type miles you drive. Yes, a carb is an antiquated pile. Yes, the EFI set up will be way more dependable. But the MPG is going to come from that .75 and .50 gears in the T56. Kill all that unnecessary engine RPM and surprising on how the fuel economy goes up.
