View Full Version : Source for black/non-chromed rear bumper
Like the title says, I'm looking for a black/non-chromed rear bumper for my 67 Camaro. Anyone know a vendor that may supply these? Thanks!

I've looked. I don't think anyone actually makes one. I had all my chrome parts powder coated.

your more than likely not gonna find one not chromed, I ended up just buying a cheap repop bumper and took a grinder and sanding disks to it.

Anvil has rear bumpers in carbon fiber or fiberglass.

How did the bumpers turnout? Do you have any tips? I am currently looking into chrome stripping options.

Haven't painted yet.... but most of the chrome came off with some grinding disks...

I'm going to have my bumpers powder coated. Most shops can do it if they have an oven large enough and it not super expensive. One guy quoted me under $100 per bumper. Also a lot of folks are powder coating things as primer to paint later. The powder coating adheres to the chrome really well and is a good base for paint.

If you are going to paint you don't need to remove all of the chrome. Like Greg said above some 80 grit on a D/A will rough it up well enough for paint. Hit it with 80 grit then 320 and prime it with a self-etching primer. I use Dupont Vari-Prime with excellant results. Bury that in epoxy and sand for top coat. You won't have any issues with peeling.

Powder coating is the way to go.
If you don't want gloss black then you could try plastidip. You wouldn't have to sand them bumper, just clean it then shoot.
