Saw the 69 Battle Ax Camaro this weekend at a local (Westchester NY) car show. I believe it is owned by a Long Island hot rodder.

Sweet car, loads of tire in rear with 20 inches but did not appear to be mini-tubbed. Also huge Carb-Dominator I think. Of Course I forgot my camera.

Dirk, any body else see it ?

Brad - I saw it - car looked mean!!! Nice 20 in the rear - I took some pics - will try to post them tonight from home.

I didn't see you there - how long were you there?

Good show - alot of new cars I have never seen before - including some Camaros.

Travis, thanks for the link. At a brief glance the car did not look modified underneath, but the article set me straight.

Really nice car, I always like seeing cars that have been in print in person. Last year I almost bought a "magazine car" and pictures in the mags did it too much justice, for once it was nice to see cars as nice as they appear in the magazines.

I saw this car a while ago at the Tallahassee, FL Good Guys show a while ago. Very nice car in the flesh... though not a fan of the 20's. Just my taste.

I've seen the car a couple of times.. Love the car but I would prefer it with 18's.. The owner is nice guy also..

Brad I saw that car, it really is nice. A guy at the show bought my rear seat right out of the car.He came by my house and bought my stock front seats also. I have to finish my no-rear-seat panels now.

A friend of mine bought that car from Bob. He liked it, but said the engine fouled the plugs every weekend and had too much compression and cam for a street car. Killer ride though!!

Personally I like 20s if they are real wide. If they are not wide they look like wagon wheels to me.

I saw it at the Syracuse Nat's. Awesome car.

Dirk, make two sets :)

My rollbar interferes with having a seat back.

Those 20's look right. Plenty of sidewall and the cast centers make it work. I've seen it up close many times. In fact, I may have accidentally left a greasy nose print on it. It's a very nice car that's driven hard. The owner has the right attitude.

Rick I am making the panel out of fire resistant plywood and covering it with vinyl. I can make you one or just make you a template.

Steevo, the visual of the nose print has me laughing my a... off.

Neat idea. I've been hacking up a 2000 camaro seat back. Lots of fun. Can you send me a pic of your mock up?

That 69 is one bad ride! I like the stance and wheel choice!

I wrote up that feature and gave the car the name "Battle Axe"...it's an awesome ride I saw at several different places and had to keep reminding myself this was the builder's FIRST real muscle car buildup. Alan Johnson is the Man...
