I know a lot of you were disappointed this year when there wasn't the 10th annual RTTHs. Well I have some good news for you that enjoyed that event. It is now Cruisin the Smokies and we will have it starting in 2015 in May. May 1-3 to be exact. This first year will probably not include an autocross but will be a very cool event, that will include a couple poker runs and a couple very nice cruises thru the mountains. There will be something for everyone, all cars, all years and motorcycles welcomed.
I have set up a page on Facebook for all you on facebook, please like and visit the page for updated information as we finalize plans.

I do have a website proper coming too, but for now, info will be on the facebook page.
Of course, we will post here on Pro-touring too as plans come together, but for now, as you make your vacation plans, consider a weekend in the Smokies with other car guys. This is certainly a family friendly city and the event will be also. Plenty of shopping for Mom and attractions for the kids.
The really great news is that May is a bit slow around here generally so for those that hated the traffic in September, this will be a pleasant change of pace.
I hope to see a lot of you here in May, stay tuned for announcements.

My understanding is that the autocross may have a limit, but the other activities will not and the more the better!

Autocross will be one day only, May 1. I am leaving for SEMA then on to BAJA this week. I will be back home Nov.16. Registration should be up and running before then.
I will give you guys a head start on registration. There are two key segments of this event that I think will interest the Protouring crowd. Autocross and a Carshow/cruise in on Saturday in Pigeon Forge. Both will be limited and I don't want the group that started this to miss out getting in on if they so desire. PRE-Registration will be $80, registration after Mar.15 will be $100. This will include autocross, cruise in and all the other cruising, poker runs, etc. Discounts for registered participants at several of the dinner shows, restaurants, and other attractions in the county. For every venue you participate in, you will get another ticket for our main grand drawing on Sunday. Local merchants are getting involved and even the casino in Cherokee will play a part for those that want to visit there too.
Stay Tuned, this will be a fun time for everyone with plenty to do for all. For those that have been here and need a little something to get your better half excited, how about a discount book worth over $1400 at Tanger? YES, we want everybody happy, especially MAMA!!

A couple questions:

1. Is there a host hotel?
2. Can you post a link to the registration page?

Bill Howell
11-04-2014, 01:34 PM
I should have a registration you can download, fill out and fax, email or snell mail back to me shortly.
I will have a paypal set up, and of course you can mail in a check, etc. I am working on cc payment plan too, but that may be after I get back from SEMA/BAJA.

Registration form will also have hotel info with the folks at http://smokymountainresorts.com/
We are partnering with them on hotel rooms. They have several properties and price points. Cruise Central will be at their convention center at their Ramada Property location. We are not naming a host hotel as such. Of course Pigeon Forge has many options as far as cabins, campgrounds and other accommodations if people so choose. I can help with that too if you need more information.

Also remember, the first 100 registrants will have first choice on participating in the autocross on Friday and Cruise In on Saturday. Both will be a big deal but will be limited in number so please sign up early if you want to participate in either of these. You guys know that in the past those autocross spots went uber fast and i wouldn't want anyone that wants to participate miss out.

We have a time share with BlueGreen resorts and it turns out they have a location in Pigeon Forge. We need to book some time or we loose it so as soon as you can post the registration form I'll get it sent back.

Bill Howell

Sounds good Steve. You can go ahead and book your time share. Registration isn't dependent on that, and I should have a link soon.

So what is the appropriate bribe to bring to SEMA to put a hold on one of those 100 spots? This is starting to look like it will be stage 1 of epic roadtrip 2015.

Hey Bill, little off subject but any chance of a return of run to the coast?

Bill Howell

https://www.pro-touring.com/threads/111692-Cruisin-the-Smokies-Autocross-May-1-2015 Here is a link to a post I made Saturday about the autocross and early registration. Regular registration will open tomorrow, however if you use the pp listed in this post, you will go to the front of the line. Over 30 have already registered early so I doubt the autocross spots will last past Wednesday.

As for Run to the Coast, I have no plans at the moment. There are several new autocrosses events now that used to not exist and I am feel it is cheaper for those local to you to do these events than for me to travel 2500 miles and try to duplicate what they are doing. As for track days, anywhere, you can put any name you like on what it is you are doing on a track, but if you are running 100+ in an uncaged car, you are flirting with disaster. I am seriously opposed to providing a venue for such and say that is ok. Others feel different about this and I an sure there will be other events coming up in Cali that will allow anyone run at will.

No one said anything about a track, but since you brought it up, when is Midwest Musclecar Challenge?

?? el toro had a track and autocross, so I was assuming he was asking about that event. That is the reason I said what I did.

I am not sure about Midwest Musclecar Challenge or involved with it. PM Mark Bowler or he may have that info on his website?

Our website is now online and registration has opened publicly. Use that as your primary registration source now, however, PM me here if you can't register for autocross. I will work you in until I post otherwise.
Thanks guys in advance, we look forward to seeing you all here in May.
