TV cable HELP!

I am installing a bowtie overdrives EZ TV kit and I was able to get the old cable off albeit tight but now for the life of me I cannot get the "hook" into the new TV cable. It needs two hands and I can get two fingers from each hand in the space I have. This is on a 68 camaro. any trick I may be missing? I may drop the exhaust tomorrow and that may give me a little room on the angle I am going in at but there isnt much room period!!

I could really use some help on this PLEASE.

I have tried youtube and google but everything is about adjustment.

I will find out soon enough since I am about to drop the pan on the tranny but can I manipulate the "hook" from underneath as suggested somewhere else? Meaning, when I drop the pan will I be able to push up the hook and hold it? I am optimistic but was soo frustrated last night.

The cable was much easier to hook up with the pan dropped.

Hooking up a TV cable without pulling the pan,

is like a doc trying to do heart surgery via the rectum!

Unless they have the extension wire oriented the right direction it is next to impossible.

something I do when I have to replace one of those cables is I cut the old one and leave a few inches of wire from the old one still hooked up, pull the wire up and the hook will come up over the hole just enough to get to it use a small needle nose pliers and hold it while you switch to the new one , I haven't ever pulled a pan to replace one, it works every time for me and this has been in 88-93 chevy trucks and there is a little room to work with exhaust manifolds in the way and a few third gen Camaro's also, and they are even tighter with the big 3 inch single pipe there

You don't have it attached at the carb do you?

I was able to pull the trans wire up and hold it with a needle nose pliers and slip the wire through the eye on the cable. Then release the wire/needle nose and slip the cable sheath over it so the wire couldn't slip out of the eye of the cable. bolt the retaining piece on the trans then attach it up top.

Not enough room to get up in there? Maybe you can pull the cross member and let the trans down a bit to get room to work.
