Hi guys, My name is Hamad, and I'm from Qatar (a small country about 12000 KMs far from you), this is my new project, a '71 Formula which is bone stock and factory original with a numbers matching 350 pontiac engine and a TH350 trans. My goal is to build a pro-touring car out of it and fit it with a 416 LS engine and a 4 speed auto and get a 10 second on the drag strip and still be a corner carving monster. So here is a small brief with some pics :

When I removed the windshield moulding I was surprised that it wasnt rusted all the way through, I found a solid metal under the surface rust, I know that in some other places I would find a TON of rust , but at least this is one area that I don't have to worry about.

One of things that got me worried is the shape of the front bumper, do you think this is fixable? these are expensive and so heavy to ship all the way from USA!

The car is really clean and never been touched from the inside, it has a solid interior (except of the cracked dash, of course) :

This is the foundation of the engine, an early L92 block that has the same casting number as the LS9, I heared that they are a bit stronger than the later LS3s :

I got to clean up all that miss before starting, I have a small garage (30 ft X 27 ft) and I need to keep myself as much organized as possible in the coming days.

I will start the disassimbly and will get all the parts organized in plastic sandwich bags tagged and labeled, and put in plastic bins before sending the body to a near by body shop to take car of the rusted areas, I think I need to import a few sheet metal parts from US, like both rear quarters and trunk floor and both floor pans, I will try with NPD if they can help me with that and get all the parts shipped via air-freight to me.

I will try to keep that post updated as much as I can.

Now I'll go back to work!

Cool project! I'm a sucker for 70-73 Firebirds. I have a bone stock 70 TA (restored) and a 70 Formula I'm using for a PT build--I have a long way to go on that one. I have a small stash of extra parts so let me know if you need anything--I might be able to help out. Just so you know, Goodmark has full quarters now, as well as correct trunk drops and tail panel if you need that. Oh, and if you decide to go with a different dash.gauge bezel (aftermarket or TA) and you want to sell yours, please let me know. I'm looking for a woodgrain one exactly like the one in your car for another project I have (70-71, gauges but no A/C). Jeff
