some of you know that i building a 64 chevelle 2 door wagon. Jeff Schwartz is helping build it or more correctly my money is paying Jeff to build it. Today i asked him how i get my car off the "other projects" page and he said that i have to name it. it will have a lsx motor, overdrive trans, baer brakes, hydraboost, bigstuff3, ron davis, pro charger, kris horton etc. since it is a wagon i will use air ride shock waves to get it in the weeds. name ideas so far are
ggr (grocery getting racer)
g g machine (grocery g machine)
or my wife's suggestion
the project that i will never see to completion but i will spend a whole lot of money on and it will sit in some other state rotting away (i think that isn't very catchy and i think we have all had a project by that name anyways)
please help

I agree...why does the car have to be named?

As Tony W.(NineBall) said in one of the name threads.
guys have been naming their cars, bikes, planes, boats.... since the beginning of transportation history. Especially the racing crowd.
I suppose this isn't any different.
Having a project name that is well-known is easier to use when tallking about specific cars. We could say "Mule", or we could keep saying "That silver 1969 Camaro with Fikses and twin-turbos that Stielow built". Those in the know hear "Mule" and instantly know what you are talking about.
pick a name that describes the character or style of your car.
That red 69 camaro
That blue 69 camaro
That silver 69 camaro
That red chevelle
that blue chevelle..........
If they are named its easier to remember the car.

Keep Xtreme out of the name. I think that conversation went down a while ago.
I like the Street Sweeper one. Or you could do like the T-Shirts that say "kiss my SS" and name it "Haulin-SS"

As Tony W. said in one of the name threads. "You name your car that way its easier for people to remember the name MULE instead of saying that twin turbo 69 camaro." Something like that. I cant find the actual quote yet.
That red 69 camaro
That blue 69 camaro
That silver 69 camaro
That red chevelle
that blue chevelle..........
If they are named its easier to remember the car.
I agree...by law all 69 Camaros should be named because there are so dam many of them out there. But its not like there are a lot of 64 Chevelle wagons being PT'd so in this case we are pretty safe in identifying "1970cuda's 64 Chevelle 2 door wagon". Well crap that would really screw with peoples minds! But if I knew 1970cuda's name I could just say Freds(?) wagon. Kind of like my car would be kmcanally's (or just Kevins) Mustang. Now if I had 5 green Mustangs I guess I would have to name them to differentiate one from the other. Kind of like my daughters, since I have more than one I had to name them. If I only had one she would just be known as kmcanally's daughter. But now that I put it in that perspective my Mustang is part of my (but now my wifes) family so maybe I should name it too?
OK in all seriousness on to some name suggestions for the wagon. How about Wagon Train? Or maybe Battle Wagon? I also like Travis' simple suggestion of LSwagon.
Travis B
10-06-2005, 08:15 AM
That was actually Bill H's suggestion.......but I like it!
I think all cars should be named...especially any car that could possibly get some recognition at some point or another.....ie mags, track days, etc.
they are just easier to identify....
I would like to name my project but I can't come up with the right name! I do like Battle wagon as well

Chevygon, Chevelleagon, Chevagon, Chevellygon, Chevygate, Chevellagate, Interrogate, Big Hauler, Gas Pig -a name we called our station wagon, LS Station , Instationable SS, Station to Station, Devistation Wagon, can't think of any more right now.
I really like Devistation Wagon now that I look at it. Has so many different meanings if you think about it!!

i think that a name would be cool but not necessary. jeff schwartz is just giving me a hard time on his web site. he said he will move it from "other projects" to it's own page when i come up with a name.
so how is this "robyn's 64 chevelle wagon the jeff schwartz is building?"

In keeping with the grocery hauler theme from the early posts, and inspired by Primate's list, I think "Domestic" would be a pretty sweet name. Clever, definitely not too macho...
I like it, anyway.

I talked to the wife about naming mine.
She's got two schools of thought.
The first says that either of my cars is rightly called "that pile of crap".
The other school says that I don't have to name them, the General did it for me: One is named "El Camino" and the other is named "Malibu SS".
If Jeff demands a name before it gets its own page, why not make one up? "George". "Mabel". "Britney (well, maybe not)". Guess both of mine could be "Bob".

well I am actually holding him now! He is a little fussy at times in the evening. This is a total pain in the butt typing with one hand! He is sleeping pretty good at night, like 4 or so hours at a time. So I am pretty happy since the chic is feeding him tit! Not much I can do at night! :firefire: We went to a street rod and custom show today in the wagon. I was kind of concerned at first since the car has not been more than 15 min from home since I have had it, and this was 2+ hours away from home! I just got some seat belts for the back yesterday and put them in and we went! The chic & kid in the back & it done great! The 700r4 was awesome and I got around 20mpg at around 70mph! Sweet! He has went to a "cruise in" in the Camaro last weekend and a kustom show in the 58 this weekend! Hopefully I will not burn him out before he gets old!
Thanks for asking.

I keep thinking about Devastation Wagon and have never seen it before that I know of in any magazines over the many years I have been looking . maybe someone else will know if they have? But it just kind of rolls off the tongue and right out of the wallet, not to mention what it will mean to the people who find themselves behind you!!!
Goodluck in choosing and thanks for considering my suggestion!!
