Hi guys,
I'm not really sure where this should be posted, but I figured since it's mostly a transmission question, it should go here. I'm looking at buying a 69 Cougar with the original drivetrain still installed. It's my dream car, and I want to restore it throughout my life.... The problem is, seeing as I'm still in school and make very little cash, I want to be able to drive it most of the time I'm not working on it. I brought it up with my dad, and he strongly opposes the idea because he is sure that the transmission will go in the first few weeks because it is the original. I wouldn't have the money or time to replace it for at least a month if it went...
So the question is how likely is a decently maintained 1969 Ford 3-speed automatic transmission being powered by a 351w engine likely to blow?
Thanks, and sorry if it's in the wrong place, I'm relatively new here
