<div>After looking around for a mid sixties Chevelle or Nova for quite a few months I came across this Cutlass on Craigslist. I had thrown the idea around of building an Olds or maybe a Pontiac but after going and looking at this car in person I decided this was the one for me. I had a G-body Olds Cutlass when I was 18 and really liked that car. The idea of building something just a little different has always been interesting to me. The fact that I took it home for $1,500 didn't hurt either. The car needs quite a few things but overall it's in pretty good shape. Here it is when I first brought it home and also started taking it apart to clean and inspect. have made slow progress but just getting to this point has given me a lot of motivation to dig into this build even more.

I believe PHR did a build on a similar track. You may want to check it out for ideas. Great score!

Thanks! The PHR build is really nice. There are a couple great Cutlass build threads on here with a ton of useful information I've also read up on. The plan for the car is to keep it pretty stock looking body and interior wise but update all the suspension and drivetrain as much as budget will allow. I helped my dad work on his old cars when I was younger but this is my first big classic car project. I still have a lot to learn.

Welcome to the site. I share a similar story in owning a g-body Cutlass as a teenager and hunting for a Chevelle before finding my current car. Good luck with your Cutlass. I look forward to watching the progress.

It's been a while since I've posted but there's been some progress on the build. Being that I've never tackled any major metal work, or really any metal work for that matter, I lost a little motivation when I started digging into the car. I'm pretty lucky compared to some since all that's needed is the trunk pan replaced and some patch work here and there. Thanks to my Dad for motivating me and making some of the first cuts on the old

Don't think I ever saw your build. Keep at it. It's a long process but can be rewarding. How are the quarter panels?

Thanks for looking PhillipM. I've been hanging out on the site and watching your build for a while and really like the direction you're going with it. I bought the car and didn't do much with it for a year or so but I'm looking forward to making progress. The quarters are pretty good minus a couple little rust spots whhere the trim holes are. I'll post some more progress pics soon.

The trunk pan wasn't worth trying to save so I ordered a 7 piece kit from OPGI. After laying in the new panels on top of the old it gave me a rough idea of where to cut. Not sure if this is the correct way but it worked out alright. I ended up having to cut a little more off the rear quarters then I wanted to so some new pieces will need to be made to patch them up. After that everything is fitting pretty nice so far so I'll started welding it all in.
