Nothing too hard core.. More into some orchestral metal, like HB before Johanna left, Flyleaf before Lacey left, The Letter Black, few others. If you didn't notice, have been leaning. More towards Christian metal. Heck Stryper brought new album out last year!

Yeah i'm in. Lamb of God is probably my favorite metal act to come along in the last 10 years though I still rock pretty much Metallica's entire catalog and 101 proof Pantera all the time. Bullet for my Valentine, Evile, Sevendust, Killswitch Engage, All that Remains off the top of my head.

Slayer is my all time favorite. Going to go see them in Philly on Nov 30th.
Its strange getting older. I used to go see bands with my friends because we had nothing else to do. Now my friends and I get together for shows because we don't know when it will be the last chance we will ever have to see them.
Anyone from near Trenton, NJ remember City Gardens? A great club that is long gone. Unfortunately only now remembered in a book (No Slam Dancing, No Stage Diving, No Spikes) and movie (Riot on the dance floor). It was basically where I grew up and learned about heavy music. Got to see everything from Nuclear Assault and the Ramones to Ween and the Violent Femmes and everything in between.

used to go see these guys all the time when I lived in Sarasota florida back in the 90's , they were so awesome in concert and a very tight band ! the lead guitar player Ronnie killed himself after the band decided to break up because he didn't know anything other than playing with stranger, a very sad day when I heard about that , and the women at these shows...... WOW !

My son has me listening to Korn, Breaking Benjamin, I just don't like it when they start the screaming where you can't understand them I like some Avenged Sevenfold, some Sevendust. I'm just an old rocker fan.

Oh, and another one I like some of is Ramstein, a band from Germany. The lead singer of that band is almost as old as I am.

anyone heard of kings-x ? they rock big time used to be a church style band but they couldn't make enough $$ so they went a little heavy and started doing good, black flag is one the hits , sevendust is awesome also I have one cd and it hits hard on a big sound system,,,,carl you like Ramstein ? cant understand what they are yelling but they have a killer beat !

I'm a huge music fan.
I like to watch people with talent play music.
So , I like a little bit of rock, hard rock, metal , thrash, classic 70's hard rock, 80's metal ( yes , a few of the "hair bands" could play , they just got caught up in the advertising of the times ).
I like everything from AC/DC to James Gang, to Iron Maiden to Judas Priest , to HateBreed to MachineHead ..
If they can rock the sound , I like 'em .

I gotta say I like the hair bands too. Jim, I do like Ramstein somewhat. Like I said earlier, I don't like the rough yelling like a lot of the metal bands do. I too like the beat of Ramstein. Most of their music is in German which I have no idea of what they're saying. I will have to say though... sorry, not to offend anyone, I hate Rap. Just can't do it. I like all kinds of music just not that. Heck, I even like classical music. Jeff above mentioned The James Gang. Yep!

Big metal-punk fan here.
As for the Pantera spin-offs I actually prefer Superjoint Ritual over Down. Both cool either way.
All time favorite is Black Flag. All bands featured on American Hardcore movie. If you haven't seen it, you need to. I was a big fan if the original Faith No More, (We Care Alot days)
Love Slipknot and listen to Stone Sour a lot for easy listening.

I can't distinguish metal music from rock music or are they the same. When I was in college I'm so into Nirvana, Oasis, The Stone Temple Pilots, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Sliverchair, Guns N Roses, Jon Bon Jovi, Skidrow, Poison, Mr. Big....

Hey still got Triple X soundtrack, mostly good songs. But let me say that I can listen too old Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty, OLD country, Heck I even like Hank Sr. to a point. But hier metal, Christian metal, rock, pop, some rap songs (heck FIRST actual rap track single to chart number one in USA on Americas Top 40 was from Blondie, it was Rapture.
The really hard growling metal I just cant listen too. Heck had a customer let me rip a Kittie cd and most of the musica is great, its just some of those lyrics I just dont get the growling, other than guys who could not carry a tune decided to growl. But much of the bands listed I can listen too, my buddy I got both Caprices off of has huge collection at his garage and had that or satellite radio going while working on cars.
If I like it , I like it, if not, enjoy your self.

Major metalhead here.
I started at a young age back in the late 80's with Metallica, etc., graduated to Slayer, Sepultura, Kreator, etc. and by the early 90's when death metal started to take off I was ALL IN. It was all I listened to for years. I've started to mellow out a little bit in recent years and though I still enjoy extreme metal, I also enjoy a lot of prog rock and fusion...stuff like that.
I'm also a musician (guitar), and I played in several metal bands over the years. I've done more than my fair share of death metal grunts, lol.
Oh, and I also like classic metal with outrageous operatic vocals. I'm going to see King Diamond in St Louis next week as a matter of fact!

I hear you. I've got a friend that has a House on the Beach in Jupiter, FL that I can use anytime I want. Lars lives right across the Inlet (so does Kid Rock) and I've run into him a couple times and he certainly different than I remember in '91 (he was a Cool Guy that day). It's funny that Kid Rock ( I don't like his Music at all) seems like a Good Dude - hangs out in the Bars like a regular guy!

Huge metal fan here. I grew up on Pantera, Slayer, CoC, Metallica, and Machine Head. I played in a touring band for about 8 years but had to grow up and get a real job. I still keep up with new bands. I'll post a few less-known ones that are awesome.
Monuments: a djent/progressive band with a great dynamic range and some INSANE guitar work.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnvMe0rWI2I
Ghost Brigade: I describe them as melodic doom. Very catchy, driving riffs. Good balance of singing and screaming.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbc4XBOsyg0
Warbringer: Great thrash band. You can tell they grew up on Slayer.
