Vince or David P might be able to help me, and anybody else thats done this, I put my 88 IROC steering box in my car, the stock manual box pitman arm does not fit the shaft, which one do I need, Is it the 68 power steering box, or the 88 IROC arm, I ready to do steering and move on to the rear, Thanks Steve

Pretty sure it's the 68 power arm, but hopefully someone more clueful will pipe up.

I put a 96 Caprice cop car steering box in my '72 Elky and I just re-used the power steering arm from the Elky. I would think the shaft would be the same on all the power boxes.

the manual box has a smaller shaft than a power box. Use a power pitman for a 70 Nova the local parts stores can get them from Moog or TRW. There is a long and a short version, long is 5.75 sometimes called 5.8", short is 5.25" long. The long pitman will yield a faster ratio and should be used if you have the long outer steering arms on the spindles.
I have part numbers for pitman arms on my web page, use the first gen Camaro part no's, they use the same components.

Use a rag joint from a late 70's camaro or chevy pickup half ton. The original 70 rag joint won't work.

Thanks for the replies, David how do I know if I have the long steering arms??? I remember seeing a pic on your web site, I'll take a look and measure them, this is great I'll get the pitman arm and then put the hubs and rotors on, :jump:

I picked up my pitman arm on Friday, It came in a Moog box, but it was in a Rare Parts bag, last was $118.37 net 75.71, Moog P/N K6582, for anybody that needs it, Steve

$118 for the pitman arm, wow! I got the Moog one for about $60 if I remember right. Sounds like Rare Parts took the Moog, reboxed and repriced.

I put the IROC box in my '70 Nova. I really don't think it has anymore 'feel' then a normal ps box. I wasn't real pleased with that. It's definitally a quick ratio though.

Edit. I just checked Summit and they sell that part number for $59.69.
