First build.. HELP

[F-bodied]

So, I'm about to dive into my first pro-t build. Up until now the only thing I've done is help rebuld work trucks with my grandpa. Sooooo what do I do now? I basically need to know what to do to build a competitive car and not make any stupid mistakes a simple tip could have avoided lol. All advice is welcomed.

I am guessing by your username that you are working with a first-gen camaro. What are you wanting to be competitive in? Auto cross? Landspeed? Rally? Or just a really nice road car?

No I created that user name a long time ago lol, I actually have a 64 a body, and I ID like to be competitive in autocross and road corse.
