I'm hoping you guys might have some suggestions. My car is currently on a slanted driveway, with no way to get it back in the garage without starting it. It is a 1969 Pontiac Firebird with a Pontiac 455.

When I attempt to turn over the engine, nothing happens. No cranking, not even a click from a starter attempting to engage. I'll detail below what I've done/checked.

-Battery is good and charged
-Terminals are clean and the terminal wires are brand new with no corrosion
-Checked that the positive lead is connected to the starter and secured
-I've done a cursory check of the electrical, but in truth the previous owner has a rats nest of crazy wiring going on
-The car has been sitting for about 2 hours while I've been cleaning it up, the starter is cool to the touch.

This is a new development that just started a couple days ago. Until now, the car has never failed to turn over. I do have power to the car itself, I can run the lights, radio etc. dummy lights illuminate when I attempt to start the car.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys!

Check for power to stater solenoid while turning ignition switch to start there. If no power then back to neutral switch if there is one. and then back to ignition switch. If you do have power to the starter then tap on the start while someone turns the ignition switch. If nothing then check main battery cable to starter and engine grounds if all good then it needs a starter.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm thinking it's the solenoid wire. I fiddled a bit and she kicked right over. I guess it's time to get that wiring replaced.
