Randy Fish is now a magazine editor (again) for a drag racing book and that means I have new jobs since he can't freelance for us anymore.. He is a nice guy and I am sure he will do great with his new gig.

One of the new sections is Hometown Hotrodding (Readers Rides).. So here is your chance to easily get into PHR.

email me a GOOD and HIGH RES picture of your car.. the whole car. Usually a front 3/4 shot but whatever looks good. A pic of the car on the track (action pic) would be cool as well.

Put down a little blurb about your car like what has been done to it, how you got it or if you run it hard or not. Oh, and your name and such.

I would like to sprinkle some real PT cars in with the usuall stuff I get in the mail.

Email is [email protected]

You can mail me a regular picture also.. just email me or look in the magazine for the mailing address.

Thanks!

lol.. I should have worded it better.. Randy Fish became an editor but NOT of PHR. Some drag racing magazine. As such he can not freelance for Johnny anymore. I picked up New Products and Hometown Hotrodding.

Johnny is still the captain of the ship which is good because I still have a ton to learn from him, especially about photography.

No raise but...

What? I just assumed that every employer pays more when they pile more work on your desk. Gosh. :hmm:

Drag Race book, huh? Primedia title? Randy will be good for that.

What if my car has already been featured in PHR? Can I still send in a pic to Readers Rides?

At my workplace, we call such promotions "Unfunded Mandates".

I am much relieved to hear Johnny is still around too. Sorry to hear about the extra work, but have fun with it!

Sure.. so long as it was TOO recent.. At least nobody told me I can't so I will just run on this premise :)

Do people send in pictures of their cars to be specifically featured in 'Readers Rides' or is that generally where PHR puts some of the submissions that they feel might not be worthy of a feature but are nice enough that they want to give them some recognition. I always thought it was the latter and wondered how many of those guys were bummed to find out that their car only made 'Readers Rides'. Not that theres anything wrong with Readers Rides, I'm sure that's where my car will probably end up someday if I ever get the damn thing done. And thats fine with me.

Yea, we get two types of pictures sent in..

1. Feature my car in PHR. Either the car is not right for a full feature or just too damn far away. In that case we run it in Hometown

2. Here is my car, could I get it in the Hometown Hotrodding section? This is the more common type. Generally you can get the by the tone of the letter that they don't think it is feature material but they love the book and just want to be in it somehow.

There are a TON of cars out there that are feature material but are just "geographically challenging".. ie. too far away and not near ANY events that we will be out. It is just too expensive to fly out to shoot one car.

I like Hometown Hotrodding since it is the heart of our community.. the average joe's place to get recognition..

Why do you fly out to the cars, cant the owners just arrange to have a local automotive photographer shoot the pics?

Well we can sometimes arrange to have a freelancer shoot the car but them hiring a photographer to shot the car is very risky since it is expensive and there is no guarantee Johnny will like the pics.

It is the one part that makes me crazy.. I know of at least 8 cars that would be great for the book but are out of the area and tough to get too, but we are working on it.. good freelancers are few and far between.
