What intake are you running?
whatever you get go for a 4-corner idle

I'm running a Quick Fuel 850 vacuum secondary on a 496. Dyno'd @ 625 hp. I swapped from a mechanical secondary 850 for more drivability. I find a slight highway cruising advantage because the vac secondary offers an adjustable "delay" before power comes in. I find I can more easily feather the gas in high gear and in theory gain a little fuel mileage. On the flip side, when I punch it, The power comes in like a Two-stroke. The difference isn't worth going buy a new carb if you already have a mechanical.

What gears and rear tire size? What trans, and if an auto, what stall speed?

The rule of thumb is if a light car/higher than stock stall or std/low gear ratio, then double pumper
If heavy car/factory stall auto/tall gear ratio, then vacuum secondary.

In any case a 750 for sure, and I would lean towards the street HP Holley, or an AED 750 HO.
