I am wondering if anybody ever done this mod and how? This will be for my 1970 Cutlass. I really enjoy how the guys on Car fix did the 71 Camaro. I missed the episode on that part though.

Their method was to run the tailpipe up through the floorpan inside of the car & out the body. they then had an interior cover over the area ( rear seat delete car). You may be able to google the episode.

My method on my g-body's side exit cutout exhaust was custom making a wide thin stainless megaphone shaped outlet which curved around the shape of the frame & hugged tight. Not quite the same but less invasive & better fit than a premade tailpipe outlet.

I see. Nice fab work. If I was to take it through the quarter panel behind the rear wheel. Would that cause much of a problem you think?

Frame is in the way at the bottom .You either go under like I did & tuck it nicely OR do what they did & go through the floor pan where Passengers feet normally go & then out .

Didn't goggle the show yet, did ya?

Just my opinion, but from an esthetic standpoint having the exhaust exit in front of the rear wheel will look better than if you have it exit after when going through sheet metal. I think some people have the exhaust exit before the rear wheel to avoid having to route tailpipes over the axle. If you have room to go over the axle just use regular tailpipes or have them exit through the rear bumper or rear panel.

I will run them before the rear wheels. I'm just seeing how I want to complete the task while the car is in bare metal. I googled it and even went to velocity.com. It didn't have the clip of that portion of the build. But thank you all. I will post pics up of the build and how I will handle the situation.

You can see pics of the exhaust running through the floor, the cover, etc.
Don't need to be on book face, I'm not.

Got to view it on my laptop. It was my stupid phone that was making me log in.

Now if only I can keep my rear seat. That is the exact place I want to put my exits at. Back to the brainstorming stage.

Well after much research I think an extended rocker panel might fit the bill. Anybody have any info on this?

Extended rocker, Hmmm. Where did I see one before???

Oh yea, mine.
Figured you might find the floorpan exhaust intrusive, that's why I put up a pic of my cutout exhaust. The posted pic was before I made my extended rockers, which was meant to fatten up the bottom of the vehicle to blend with my nose swap.

Many Foose involved project cars, such as Mothers Pro pane ,had a simple slip on rocker only extension which was bent to shape by any decent sheet metal shop.

Frame rail will cause trouble, interested to see what you come up with.

Still in the planning stages. About to take the body off the frame to do body mounts and coat the frame.
