I'm sure this have been covered before on the Chevelle, GTO, 69-72 but I've been told that the 68's are a little different. I plan to run Bfg 235/45zr17 on the front. The concern I have in the rear is I have 18x9.5 wheels and going to run Bfg 275/40zr18, the overall tire diameter is 26.66". Is this to tall or should I drop to the 275/35 tire which is a closer overall diameter to the front tire. I do have the hotchkis 1" drop front and rear. I do plan to upgrade over time taking baby steps. I dont want a wild rake with the front end low, I like my car to be fairly level. Thanks for any help in advance!!

Anyone has any ideas, I'd like to order or find my rear tires within the next couple days. I just don't want to make the mistake of getting the wrong size, can't afford to keep changing them out.

Sorry dogman, I don't have the answer, but if your anywhere near Atlanta, you can swing by and throw on my wheels to check clearance.

Thanks Camino, for the offer but I'm up in Maryland. My car is sitting in the garage on the lift waiting for some tires.

I've been told the 68/69 rear wheel wells are smaller than the 70-72 cars, but I'm not sure if the 68 is smaller than the 69.

All I can add is, I have 18x9 with 285/40/18 in the rear, with no rubbing. Car is lowered a good 1.5-2 inches in the back.

275/40/18 shouldn't be too tall, in fact (in my opinion) I think 275/35/18 would look too short on an A-body. The Firebird's and Camaro's can pull them off when lowered properly.

Thanks MrNick for the input, I read the same thing about the wheel wells and agree with you. I really like the stance of your car and it looks nice. I think I'm just going to go with the 275/40's believe it's the best choice.

235/45R17 will look too small in the front. Go with 245/45R17. Same sidewall height as the 275/40R18, so it will still look proportionally correct.
