For the new magazine project car.. nothing fancy. Just a quick coat of paint. Needs the front door corners fixed (rust) and the lower passengers side quarter (the very bottom). The rest is ok with only minor dings and dents to remove.

I will have all the trim stripped to save labor costs (including glass). Was thinking of shooting it silver of some sort or maybe a ice blue or light green. Would shoot the engine bay flat black.

Anyone have any shops to reccomend? Was looking to spend between $2k and $3k out the door.

So long as it looks good from 10 feet and going around the track I will be happy.

Any reccomendations would be appreciated..

For 2-3 Macco should be able to help you out. I've had some luck with them. They did my GTO in single stage for $1200

Yea, I thought of that but those places are hit or miss.. actually I would use one if I had a referece to a specific one that wasn't ran by morons (they are independently owned and operated)

And they do have to do a tiny bit of rust repair.. Just thought someone might know of a good little independent shop.

maaco actually isn't a bad place to have a car painted if you make a few changes in their normal painting process. They normally have quality stuff as far as shops, equipment. I would have the car prepped as much as you can, buy quality paint. but I wouldn't recommend them on bodywork and primer. Steve I know your a busy guy, you could always do the bodywork and primer yourself and save money.

I plan on doing as much as I can but I really can't shoot primer and such in my garage.. plus "welding class" is on my long list of things to do.

I will probley even wet sand the car myself to save cash..

Studio Auto Body on Western and Victory. Its close to Bobs in Burbank. He does good work. He did Patricks Chevelle for Hotrods To Hell after it got rear ended by a truck. Ask for Jeremy.

Im not at home right now but they are listed.

I can second the studio auto body, they are doing my 64 chevelle right now, they did Patrick's chevelle after he got smashed by a truck and it looked awsome (http://www.hotrodhomepage.com/gallerys/chp_april_2005/) and they are great guys.

Couldn't recommend them more.

If you exit the 5 at Western take the West off ramp and they will be down a few blocks on teh left side of the street just before the corner of western and victory.

In all honesty, it would be hard to find a better guy on the end of a gun for a all over base clear or single stage job then a Macco. Hard to not get pretty good shooting 10 a day. I know, I had a 3 month tour of duty at one when i was 19 Y/O. My record was 16 in a 12 hour day. I have sent some of my own used car stuff there over the years, we do the metal / mud work and send it. They can prep it, tape it, and shoot it for less then I can buy the materials.

For yours, I would suggest carrying in your own materials, I can hook you up with a couple good lines of paint that are resonable, and finding someone to do the rust repair. You might be surprised how damn nice it will turn out.

How much did the job set you back? I know it varies but I am trying to get a ballpark number.. Thanks!

Thanks Frank! the patch panels are cheap (thankfully) but I know paint and all the materials can really add up. at least the fenders are easy to pull off.. I was thinking of stipping them then powdering the insides to protect more from rocks.. maybe bedline the insides.. hmm..
