i have a 68 camaro with SS tail light with the reverse light in the bezel. i want to change to the RS tail lights with 2 reds in the bezel, 2 brake lights. how do i wire this to work? can i just splice in another new socket to the brake light socket from the SS or will this cause a problem? anyone ever done this? got a set of the billet RS tail light bezels on the cheap and really like to figure this out. thanks for any help

You might want to go to American Autowire's website, find the part number for the rear body harness, then find the installation instructions online. That should get you a wiring diagram. I know the kit I have covers 67 & 68 Camaro & Firebird and RS & non-RS, so you ought to be able to adapt one to the other. What are you going to do for back-up lamps?

The quick and dirty way is to spline into the existing outer brake/tail light sockets, then you'll have all 4 working the same. I've done it before with no change in flasher speed. This can be done cleanly, or if you want the OE look the rear harness can be purchased, but that's usually a couple hundred dollars.

Yes you can simply buy two 1157 sockets and wire them to the existing sockets. Also, you only need to change the lens not the bezel. The alternative is to install the DigiTails if you are interested in LEDs.

i really didnt want to do the LED swap, so if i just splice in one extra socket per side there shouldnt be any issues? not going to burn the car down or anything?

im having problems with my tail lights any way, i have brake and signal but no tail lights still trying to figure that one out, i did check the fuse ofcourse my luck not that easy.

im going to delete my marker lights so i may get a new rear harness for a 67 RS would that work?

It won't burn down your car.. I am wondering why you would want to delete the side marker lamps. Seems to be a point of interest in the '68. Check your grounds for the tail lights. Are both not working, or just one?

just a cleaner look without the marker lights to me, i know im weird cant help it...... let me ask this i was in the process of replacing one tail light sockets so i cut them one at a time and wired new one one wire at a time so not to swap the 2 wires , i also cut the marker light sockets off but they are just shrinked rite now could losing that ground affect my tail lights? i wasnt going to wire them back up till i decided if i was going to fill them in or not but if i need to i will.
