I would be tempted to haul it to Mike at Musclerodz in Oklahoma. Very trustworthy....

What do you mean? They used the highest quality fiberglass bondo available to rebuild the rear inner fenders of JR's 56 nomad lol.

Griffith Metal Shaping

http://griffithmetalshaping.com/

He's done the fabrication as well as much of the other work on my car. He doesn't paint, but he can certainly do all of the metal work you are asking about. He's local, honest, and incredibly detail-oriented. Certainly worth a phone-call. My car is there right now wrapping up some suspension upgrades.

Rods Car Craft here in DFW. Below is a link to another forum members car that was done there and he did some great work on my 69 Camaro.

Contact Tim at GAP Racing in Houston. He can handle all the fabrication and metal replacement (TIG welded). Will help you find the right painter for your need (and budget). He works with Painthouse on projects if you are looking for riddler level paint and other paint shops if you are looking for something more budget friendly. He is also a sponsor. He has my 68 Camaro now (build thread on that other site).

I would certainly love the work and would be happy to discuss your project. Griffith would be a great choice right there in Austin. He has done cars for SW, and he only deals with the best.

That is Randy's '67.
Rodney did the metal and paint on my car also:

But Randy's car holds the shop record for sheet metal work:

Personally I would have a hard time doing a long distance thing, I was over at Rod's about twice a week when my car was there, now I stop by about once a month just to see what they are working on. If you can find a really good shop in Austin that would be hard to beat. Since Mike in OK recommends Griffith I would seriously consider it, recommendations from competitors are hard to come by.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the input, basically right now Im just looking for the metal work, so I can get it together, then I'll do the paint, and I have no idea what riddler level means haha

Im looking for a nice paint job, nothing insane, But I am looking for quality metal work, I dont want to end up with terrible lines. My brother has a 73 Corvette (and yea its not metal) but the guy that had it before him really screwed up the fenders and the roof line

That really is a perfect job for Eric (Griffith) if your timeline works with his... He's got a full shop at the moment, but if all goes well, mine will be out early next week.

Mike - SW... I have not seen, talked to, or heard of that guy since I moved from Austin to DFW eight years ago. Definately had some nice cars when I knew him, I was kind of partial to his SD Trans Am. Any links to pictures or builds of his cars? What has he been up to the past eight years?

SW is spending more of his time with the exotics these days (mostly of the Italian variety), but this was the Camaro that Eric built:

He also managed to buy back the red SD Trans Am a year or so ago, so that's back in his stable. He's bought, and I think sold already (not positive on that) a couple of other nice cars in the last year:

The silver 71 that Griffith did last year belongs to SW.

I remember him having a '69 Camaro and maybe a SD Trans Am about ten years ago. I'm trying to remember what he had before those two cars, but it is not coming to me. I remember him occasionally driving Italian cars. Didn't he have a shop or exotic car dealership or something somewhere near Colvin Automotive's shop?

EDIT: Now I remember... I think it was a Pro Street blue / white, maybe a '69 Camaro? That must have been about 15 years ago. I used to hang out / talk with him at the Round Rock weekly show at the Antique Mall. Now that I think of it, that may have been closer to 20 years ago...

He goes through cars quickly... And yes, he did have a shop there. It's now off of 620 West of Austin. Here's the company website:

http://www.elitemotorsports.com/

He's into big horsepower Italian exotics. If I recall correctly, he recently ran his Lamborghini in what I think was a 1/2 mile standing start run, and it was 220+ MPH. And yes, I'm almost positive it was a 1/2 mile, not a full mile event...

So I am looking again for a metal/paintshop to take on my car, I was planning on getting Griffith to do it, but seems like he has fallen off the face of the earth, hope he's ok

Any new suggestions 4 years later LOL

Call Customs and Hot Rods of Andice (just north of Austin) — before you do anything - just make the short drive up there to check out their shop. Not the cheap shop BTW — but if you want to sleep well knowing the work is perfect....

Mike at Musclerodz is another shop I wouldn’t hesitate to take a car to.
