im not sure if im much of a kid anymore, but anyway, im grant.

ive been involved with cars/motorsport since i was 16, went to college for automotive management
and have been in the industry since 2007.

my real passion is pavement circle track racing. it all started when my buddy bought a g body cutlass and decided to race it, we didnt know a damn thing about how to set up a car except from what his dad taught us. stagger? uhh what?? since then ive been involved with a few late model teams as well as a modified team with my boss, 68-72 a body clip modified. ruined a guys 16 year chamionship streak two years ago, we had fun lol.

last summer i inherited a 1967 pontiac tempest, it was my moms nieces grandmothers. the car had been sitting in her garage for 10 years, and thought it was a shame that it just sat there. the car is basically all original, no rust thru, original paint, interior, engine and trans. engine has been rebuilt, trans is now a th400 (her ex husband drag raced it in the 80s, had a dual quad 428 poncho at one time). 326 chops along with its comp 400s factory cam, headers, and 2.5 flowmasters.

the game plan for this little gem, is to use the BMR system. using second gen f body spindles, sweet 12:1 steering gear, howe front calipers, metric rear calipers, and drop in a 5.3 and 6L80. keep the paint original with its patina, and the inside stock with its bench seats.

i also own an 86 c10 pickup i bought when i was 16. in the distant future that will get some porterbuilt stuff, running wide five spindles, hubs, wilwood superlite calipers front and rear with a track9 and three link with torque arm out back. a nod to my circle track obsession.

thanks for reading, hopefully i can learn a few things on the 64-67 a body stuff from you guys. any tips or tricks you can teach me?

you got the same exact 67 tempest i have, right down to the color and bench seat column shift and that its a post car. mines a lot rougher by now and has gto tail lights, needs a ton of bodywork and has a 400 from a 72 firebird.

I got a 12 bolt from a 69 chevelle and am putting 4 wheel disc brakes on it. disc brake options are cheap as heel for these things btw. rear 98 camaro brakes bolt right on to the rear end for $250 and the 13" corvette brake swap is only $500 and uses the stock drum spindles...

then just get a 4 wheel master cyl (don't bother with a booster) and a wilwood adjustable proportioning valve and you're set to go. then its just a matter of getting quality suspension. bmr, hotchkiss etc... your choice really.

here's a video i made when installing them on my 68 firebird, they're the same spindle. you should sub my channel btw, every thing i do to my cars i put up on it. I also installed the ls brakes i had on the bird on my tempest, comfirmed its the exact same spindle. here's one of the vids i put up on the LS swap. just click on the next videos, there's seven of them.

also, one thing to know is that the LS1 calipers are the same as the C5 setup... so theoretically you could put some longer studs in your stock drum hubs, get the c5 brackets from KORE3, some 13" c5 rotors and a set of $50 used camaro calipers from a dismantelor and be set to go.

take a look at the videos and see for yourself. very simple.

stock drum hubs if using the corvette brake swap bro. just need longer studs and to somehow cut or press the drum off of them. nothing fancy about the swap at all and can be done for under $500
