My name is John. Been around cars, trucks, etc. for many of my 63+ years. Pretty much a Jack of all trades. I work with wood, metal, fiberglass, electrical systems (color-challenged p.c. for color-blind), hydraulics, control system, etc. Also, I make my own beer, wine, etc.
Day to day, I change between driving my 2002 Sierra Denali, 2008 Ultra Classic, and 2010 Mercedes S65. That is, when I am in town and not traveling on business. At those times, I drive whatever Hertz assigns me.
Present project is a 1965 Corvette Roadster restomod. I would keep it original, but the present body color and interior trim no longer match the body trim tag. So, I am free to do whatever. I have the body off, and the frame plus components are all back from a great powder coating.
I have installed new front suspension packages from Speed Direct, including Shark Bite coil-overs, new control arms, and a Steeroid rack/pinion steering package. Next, I tackle the rear with Shark Bite coil over rear suspension. Then, I will put in an LS3 motor with automatic transmission circa the C6 model.
I am going with larger diameter Wildwood brakes, sized for 17" wheels. Of course, the wheels I purchased are 17" X 10.5". That means I have to use 3 7/8" wheel adapters, along with new fender moldings to fit the new wheels. I hope the wheels sticking out so far don't cause a structural problem. Time will tell. Of course, if my body guy advises against it (North Georgia Corvette in Alpharetta, Georgia). In that case, his wisdom will guide me.
Any way, I'll keep you informed in the progress of this project.
