Hey guys, working on my ls7,magnum 68 firebird. My buddy is gonna help me with whatever fab work I need to do for a 4 link setup, but I was wondering if anyone has used this setup?

My only concern is that this setup is mainly for drag and I'm looking for an all around setup. I have looked at the ridetech and others, but trying to stay budget oriented. Thanks for the help.

I have looked at this setup and did some searching a little while back. I did find a thread on latG that showed pics of a 69 camaro with one of these 4-link setups. He bought the car with it but changed it out because the upper link was hitting the floor when it compressed. http://www.lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=33048&page=2

I really don't think it would have been that hard to fix though, could have cut the floor and welded in a pocket for clearance. I mean this would not be the setup to choose if you want to autocross but for people on a budget like us it does seem like a good option. If you do want more out the car than just a cruiser then it probably would be better to go with something like a Ridetech setup.

I ordered the Checkered racing 4 link set up before and its strictly for drag racing / light street driving. I sold it later for what I paid. After I drove in a pro touring car, drag racing went out the window.

The quality is decent for the price range but nothing to write home about. For a car that needs to handle tight corners at high speeds the Checkered racing kit wouldn't work. All 4 bars are parallel which would cause binding. You would also have to cut into your floor and do sheet metal work. Definitely not a simple install like Ride Techs.

Ride tech probably has the best price for a rear pro touring 4 link set up in the market right now and I'd suggest there kit.

Maybe you can call and speak to the owner of Checkered racing and see if he could make his kit in a triangulated 4 link set up? I've spoken to him before and he said he couldn't but that was 3 years ago, maybe he's willing to now?

The only other problem I see with the Checkered racing kit is his coil over mounting points which mount vertical. I think this would most likely bind on tight cornering, the mounts he uses are targeted for drag racing/ light street use.

In the pictures from the link from lateral g of the Camaro with the Checkered racing 4 link, they installed the front cross member wrong. They installed the front cross member upside down. download the installation instructions and compare the picture in there post. They also cut off the upper link mounting point on the front cross member which is suppose to be the lower in order to avoid cutting into the floor. The two lower mounting points on the front cross member are strictly for the upper links. By them installing the front cross member upside down caused most if not all of the poor ride quality. With the Checkered racing kit you have to cut into the floor to mount that front cross member.

Thanks guys! That's just what I was wanting to know. I'm either gonna go with the ridetech or a g bar setup from chassis works. Thanks again for the responses.
