I was browsing through some of the older social media content and came across some great highlights from Goodguys Des Moines 2014.

For those that are not too familiar with the event, it is a great way to spend the 4th of July. Every year the Goodguys Heartland Nationals falls on or around July 4th. Goodguys normally puts on a huge firework display that night at the fairgrounds (if weather permits). Participants were lucky enough to have the holiday fall on a weekend so they could enjoy both the car show and the firework display Friday night.

Weather had another thing in mind when it came to the Goodguys Autocross during Des Moines. Rain took most of Saturday though word is the track stayed open a lot later than normal to accommodate those who came out and still wanted to run the course. All-in-all it sounds like everyone had a great time and we got to see some new faces on the leader board which is always nice to see.

RideTech provided some great pictures of the weekend's events:

Though there were a couple videos uploaded to YouTube fairly quickly, many take weeks to edit and get their videos up for all of us to see. Here are a couple of our favorites:

Here's Debbie Farrington, Tom Farrington and Robert McGaffin running the autocross course one right after another:

Richard Giesey brought out his '71 Camaro to the autocross. Here's a great in-car/ hood view from his car:

Finally my all time favorite video from Goodguys Des Moines; Tyler and Stephen Gibson and and their '72 International Scout II. This father and son duo built this truck for around $10,000. They modified the S-10 chassis with several homemade parts along with some RideTech components. Unfortunately they did not go home with the win in the truck class, but it sounds like they had a great time. With a dozen or so family members cheering them on, they definitely are what the spirit of the Goodguys Autocross is all about. We can't wait to see this father and son team out again next year.
