Getting ready to start replacing rockers and floors on my nova, and I've had a hard time deciding what spot weld tool to buy considering there are so many mixed reviews on stuff like eastwood, blair, and harbor freight. I know a lot of people here have replaced almost a whole car with new sheet metal, so are there any spot weld cutters that stand above the rest? I'd rather pay a lot for a good tool that will last considering I also have a camaro that will need quarters,a roof, rockers, and a lot more, so a good tool is needed. Also, are the spot welds on a nova and camaro 3/8 only, or are there different sized spot welds on a car?
Thanks,
-Brian

I've used Blair with great success, the set with a couple extra cutters in a nice formed case. I bought their lube too, but to be honest I often forget it. Still very sharp after using multiple times. I've used a few different kinds and the Blair cutters have been night and day better.

That being said, my buddy just bought Wiveco and their cutters do work very well as well. If you at trying to save a few bucks, they cut just as well, but I like the spring tension on the Blairs better.

I removed both inner wheel tubs when I mini tubbed my car with one Harbor Freight spot weld cutter, it worked great. The key was setting the depth on the cutter properly, also center punching the spot weld so the cutter bit didn't walk.

I agree. I just paid $3.60 for a spot weld cutter from my local Harbor Freight. I also center punched first, and then I drilled out almost 60 spot welds with one cutter.
