Oh, wait. It's perfectly legal. It's just Dirk VanZuuk (and other) slicing up the Vanderbilt Cup autocross course.

Very cool, Dirk. I think it's great that you just showed up with what you had and ran it. It can't be ignored that with all the guys from LI on this board, and many of them with highly sorted out cars, it's the streetfighter guy with no front sway bar that is sliding around cones on a Sunday. Bravo! Next year I'm there with the Mach 1. (It should be start for the first time in the car next weekend.)

Ken The problem was that no one knew about the event until the last minute , Steevo stumbled across the website a few days before the event and turned me on to it. Steevo has his rims off to machine them and a lot of people had other plans.
Maybe phr could do a little paragraph on the event this year or next, its the only race through the streets that I know of. It could grow into something huge.
I really hope to do a few track days and autocrosses next year, I met some guys from emra and they seem to have a great club and a great attitude.
Thanks Andrew, this photo is a lttle grainy but its recent.

DIRK!! Thats awesome!! You have been waiting for something like that. How was the suspension? You are planning on upgrades right? So this is a good base point to start from. You sure were on the gas pretty good there. Thats is really cool though, I dont know if I have the b$%ls to do it myself though...but good for you I know you have wanted to do something like that.

Have they posted any times yet? You look like you were on meth compared to that white shelby mustang.

Ken
The guy in the white shelby was a super guy, he owns half of long island so maybe he has more to lose!
There was a pack of autocross ringers (a few bmws and a lotus elise), they were the five fastest by far. I wish I knew their names but they were fast .
Still no times on the vanderbilt site but I dont think I will be too close to the top of the list. I didnt hit cones and a lot of guys did so maybe that will help. My run was dramatic but there was a lot of ways i could have picked up time with more runs.
next year!

ssduece, i got your email, they are just rally wheels painted black so they weigh a ton. The aero wheels should be better but i need to compare them.

Ps the american racing wheels, black with red /blue stripes, they are always rusty when i see them on a street car.Where the inner and outer wheel are welded there is a recessed area, I always see rust on them. Maybe black 3m sealer would cure it.

very cool vid... what class do you race in?

10-11-2005, 03:36 AM
Moebawlz , that was a time trial, kind of a long autocross through closed streets. The people that held the event were a little unprepared , they didnt really divide everyone into groups. The worst part is they fouled up the timing and still havent released any results for the event, will not even respond to anyones emails. I know I did well and really wanted to see the times for everyone, including a few guys that sneered at my car and then hit every cone in sight. It was still a good day , we all had fun and it was worth it.
