I have parts lists to put 88-92 vette front disc brakes on 1st gen. camaro. You use drum front hubs, vette brackets, rotors & vette calps. If someone might want this it only cost me about $300. i'll find the pic & parts list and post them.

Even if nobody speaks up, the parts list would be great, it sounds like a great low-dollar conversion.

I payed $115.00 for brackets, 70.00 for rotor at napa, and 100.00 for calps. and the mounting plates were made by a freind.

Thats a pretty good deal. What tire rim combo are you running?

I have small drag tires on the front. There only about 5" wide with centerlines.

What did U for the rear brakes? Did or will U be adding discs back there soon? And finally, what Master Cylinder did U use to complete the upgrade?

Thanks,
Brandon

Just to clarify the LS1's are close but not the same as C5's. The C5 stuff has larger pistons(im told) and extra webbing for rigidity. Guys are having caliper spead problems with the Camaro calipers.

Also let try to stick to kits those less fortunate can actually get now and not the got lucky stories. Sure a set of C5's fell in my lap with new rotors does that made it a cheap kit? No, not for everyone. Yes we all love to hear the stories but there are those out there that don't want to wait and get lucky or suffer sticker shock when the find out they gotta pay core charges.

Hey GO69 welcome to the site. be sure to post pictures of your project and if you haven't already, introduce yourself in the first thread section.

From what I've been told, the C5 front calipers at 40mm per are actually smaller then the LS1 front calipers at 44mm. The c5 stuff is also a bit stronger as you said.

All things equal, the camaro calipers will produce more brake torque than the C5s.

Hmm, why do you reckon that is? Is it because the LS1 Camaro is a heavier car?

Possibly? It may also be due to the fact that the Camaro has 12" discs vs. the 'vettes 13". Perhaps the larger pistons make up for some of the lost surface area of the 13" rotor?
