Ok, i know everyone loves the 67-72 trucks and every company offers every part for those trucks.

My question is will the after market cross members or suspension kits fit the 73-87 trucks?

Its confusing because some stuff says 60-87, some say 67-87, and some say 67-72.

So is it some small fab work or what?

The frames are different from 63-72 and 73-87.The frame on a 73-87 is taller and the bolt pattern for the front crossmember is different. Here at Scotts Hotrods we have a bolt in ifs for your year of frame 73-87 and this is a direct bolt in to your truck frame. You can go to our site www.scottshotrods.com and check out what we have to offer for your truck. If you have any questions let us know and you can send us a e-mail if you would like to at [email protected]

Justin is right. We don't list our Wide-Ride for the 73-87 for that reason. Also, the steering input angle is higher (the column placement in the cab is higher and farther forward) which really requires the rack to be "rotated" up to ease the steering angle. Plan on using a 30" column (IDIDIT universal tilt) to help with the install.

Ive been looking into columns and was leaning towards the 30".
Do i have to "rotate" the rack? And if so how would i do that?

Or what about some sort of column drop? If the steering wheel fits well with the seat placement.

I am only speaking on our ifs for your of truck you have

1.Column length will be a 30 inch column works the best for the steering u-joint to hook up to the rack
2.3 steering u-joints will be needed
3.3/4 hime
4.3/4 bung
5.3/4 d/d shaft for steering
6.You can use your factory column mount for the dash
7.You will need a floor mount to secure the column to the floor

Options
1.You can fill in your factory steering column hole.
If you are going to go with a Ididit tilt shifter column your column will be 2 1/2 dia
You can take a hole saw and drill a nice clean 2 1/4 hole in your firewall and your new column will go in place
You will take a floor mount from Ididit I like there ball mounts they offer work very well and look very clean
If you are not going to run a column shift column your column from Ididit will be 2 inches in dia.You will repeat the steps
You see above

For your steering wheel this will not be a problem at all

On our ifs we make our bolt in for a 73-87 chevy truck you will not have to rotate our rack at all
This also applies to our 63-87 chevy truck
We also make a ifs for the 60-62 frames but this one is a Weld in only

We have complete packages with our ifs kits that come with all the parts you will need to make your install very smooth

If you have any questions let us know?
