Is there a LS sling out there that I can use to lift my LS3 onto the frame without removing the intake? I was thinking of fabricating my own from 2x3 stock with the chain running through it, secure the chains to stop any movement and a hook on top...Thanks

In these cases, I use a engine leveler with 4 mounting points

like this:
http://www.jegs.com/i/Trans-Dapt/969/9099/10002/-1

cheaper one, but is shorter on the "body" and chains: (buy longer chain sections)
http://www.amazon.com/Torin-Jack-T32100-Engine-Leveler/dp/B004PX4YCI

about the best deal and pick it up locally:
http://www.harborfreight.com/2-ton-capacity-heavy-duty-load-leveler-60659.html

just sucks that everyone is made overseas!

Also, just a FYI (just always be mindful of both the position and length of the bolt that you install the leveler chain to on back of passenger side cyl head!) If running close to firewall and you install a long bolt, you wont be able to remove it my you drop the engine on its mounts in final position!

Hope this helps

Mac tie downs have one, makes installing motors super easy.

What are the best lifting points on an ls engine? Coming up on my first ls install and want to make sure I have this right.

I like to use the ends of the cylinder heads but somestimes I use the rear exhaust manifold bolt location on passanger back side
All depends on if I am installing into a car , with or without trans attached or installing engine into a sand rail

I just grabbed a chain that way laying around. End of the heads work in back but it was putting more pressure than I was comfortable with in the intake to use the same points in front.

So I moved it to a couple of the larger bolts in the intake.

Worked fine for me and my engine bay is a heck of a lot smaller than yours!
