Ok just backed it out the driveway but after all these YEARS its a pretty big day!. I know I posted it in my build thread but first drives are momentous and I know when I see a long time build run it helps me keep going. The build thread will always be the permanent record though.
crank it up this thing is LOUD!

sounds awesome! how tall are those tires? Did you make those boom tubes or did they come with the car when it was a roller?

Thanks! Its been a LONG road! The tires are listed as 27" tall (27x10x15). Standard stock car racing tire. The boom tubes came with the car. If you dig through my thread their there.

I love it! Good job! Your Chevelle sounds awesome! You're going to need a lot of stainless steel wool to run at Laguna Seca!

That sounds amazing! And it looks like it could have came straight from Daytona in 1969!

Believe it or not the thing actually does have mufflers. The tracks I'll be going to up here have no sound checks....The thing is all picked so it smokes a quite a bit. It needs to really warm up. The vid is the first time it ever moved more that 12" back and forth in the garage. It sounds like a tiny race clutch and alum flywheel but its a street type clutch and lightweight steel flywheel. Throttle response wow!

Surprised there was no lap around the cul-de-sac to terrify the neighbors

So cool to see/hear it after all these years of teaser pics! Will it be street licensed or just a track day toy? Would love to see it at an OPTIMA/USCA event.

Thanks! It was a big day in the garage!
It will start as a track only toy mainly so I can go out and DRIVE IT!! (Im a driver not a builder) The doors open and the driver/passenger windows go up and down as stock and I have the title for the car so it isnt too much of a stretch to be street car. But before I go to all the trouble of hooking up lights/wipers etc (doable but still a quite a bit of work) I will have to MAKE SURE! I can get someone to insure it and get it certified for the road. I havnt really dug right into it but apparently having a full roll cage around here can give you a problem getting insurance so Id want to have all that securely in place before I even started putting the lights and stuff on.
Yes and Id LOVE to hit an Optima event but they dont allow slicks do they?? The price you guys pay for tires is crazy wow! I just picked up a set of lightly used Goodyear bias ply slicks for $200.
For an event like Optima I would also have to get some new 18" rims or something to fit some modern street rubber as there is nothing any good in 15". I would get killed if I was to show up running a set of 15" Radial TAs or something. lol
