View Full Version : need help 1969Chevelle ls1 battery wiring please!!! thanx!!

I have a 1969 Chevelle with the ls1 and I need help wiring the battery cables I have three cables at the positive terminal 2 red and one black I need to know where those go. Now at the negative terminals two black which are your ground I know that much so what I want to know is where exactly does every wire goes so that I know that I'm not making a mistake I am mostly wondering about the three wires to the postive post the where does the black wire go on the positive cable side.please try to make it easy as I'm not an expert yet but I will be soon lol please help me as I have been stuck at this stage for like about 3 days now so if anybody knows this please help me out also the alternator is an F body alternator and the the engine is from 2001 Camaro LS 1 With stock battery cables in car with that rpm performer from Edelbrock carbureted I didn't want to have to deal with the electrical harness or any of the wiring As I am terrible with it please help me out thank you very much any help would be appreciated it and will be of great help to finishing my project this week thank you pro touring forum and have a good day. also I'm using everything start from the 1969 Chevelle Malibu 4 door just to let you know I'm not using any aftermarket everything is stock wiring wise

OK that was one long sentence... I'll try to give it a shot. It sounds like you are using the cables from the LS1 donor car? For the neg, long one goes to the block (convenient place is on the front lower right corner just above the oil pan. there are 2 threaded bolt holes there). The other I have been running to the fender just above the battery where the factory had a small pigtail secured off the neg cable. Should be an eylet in the fender just for this purpose. For the POS cable, I usually remove one of the 2 secondary cables. The main long one runs directly to the starter. I run the other to a junction block that I like to mount between the battery & the inside of the fender. This is on a first gen F body, not sure if you have the room there, but you can mount the junction block anywhere you see fit. I use the junction block to power the vintage air, electric fans, relays, etc. Scott
