I've a 1970 cuda convertible and I want to transform her in a pro touring car.
The engine is a new 572 hemi with 800 hp and now i have to decide the chassis.
what are the best chassis for my project?
some good advice?:headbang:
it must be the best about Handling.
thanks

UNless the engine is all aluminium, I'd ditch that first. Second, give the guys at Hotchkis a call and tell them you want the entire catalog thrown at your car. Get some 275's on the front and no less than a 295 on the rear, both on 18 inch rims, and you'll be one of the fastest cars at an event if you've got the talent.

Hard to argue against The Roadster Shop for a chassis.

Old school Hemi? If so, heavy cast iron Hemi=exact opposite of a good handling car.

We were the first to develop a full length chassis for Cuda's, and ours requires no floorpan cutting (besides the torsion bar crossmember area).
There is some welding required but in the end, it bolts in. We've had guys weld the chassis in too, for maximum rigidity. As you may know, Mopars weren't built to withstand a lot of torque.. So they can benefit from anything additional you can throw at them.

We have done a few, check out the build thread "No Limit Challenger". The truth is that everything you do will be a compromise. Weight balance, cabin space, headroom, ground clearance, tire size...... To gain something, you will give up something else. Yes, the big Hemi is heavy, but so is the convertible top. The 'vert also makes it harder to keep the chassis stiff (no roof), but it's cool to cruise in. Engine clearance to any IFS will be tight. Plan on custom fab firewall, headers and exhaust, among other things. I would suggest some type of cage/structure to help hold the car together. Where is the car located?
