View Full Version : No coolant flow
Guys I need help. After a 9 week wait I finally got my Mast black label 427 for my 67' camaro. It's in and running but the coolant isn't flowing so the rad is cold but the motor is over heating. I ordered the motor with an F-body water pump and balancer but the thermostat housing I bought, for a 2000 camaro, didn't fit through the opening. I've looked at lots of pics and I'm sure the water pump is from an F-body. I ended up buying an LS2 thermostat and housing and it went together fine but I have no coolant flow. Any ideas? Of course it's Sunday so no tech support from Mast until tomorrow.

Is your coolant reservoir high enough?? Ls motors rely on air rising and self burbing to get all the air out.. If the motor is on, and its not an electric pump, its going to move water if its there, It also takes alot of water...
The motor had been dyno'd so there was some water in the block and the rad was empty but it only took a little over a gallon of coolant. I thought that was weird but the top of the rad is above the motor.

Jason,
Try jacking up the front of the car as high as you safely can. Then take the upper radiator hose off the radiator and fill through the hose as much as possible, then top off the radiator. How is your steam crossover hooked up?
Andrew
Mast told me to crack open the steam lines on both heads and let them dribble while it's running. It was kind of messy but eventually it worked. Thanks for the help!
