Hi guys, in currently awaiting the arrival of my 69 camaro. It currently has a ls6 with 6pd. I've always wanted to do the LSA engine in my camaro. The question now is do I sell the ls6 (figure 7k for engine and trans) and drop 20-25 into installing a tweaked LSA? The goal is 700hp at the wheels. Do I mod the ls6 or go the LSA route. Anyone have experience here please chime nix

Either way you'll need to supercharge the LS6 for that power. You can probably do it with the LSA on stock internals but it's pushing it... Our CTSV makes 600rwhp with mods to the s/c, cam /spring swap, and a tune. If you put a more aggressive cam in it you may be able to get the hp up there. However, if you put a larger displacement s/c on the LS6 you could likely get to the 700rwhp.
Money wise, it'd be cheaper to build an LS6 , but in the end it's still a 15+ year old Gen III LS6 :)

Do you need that much power though??? ;)

I haven't priced it out but I would think you could do a supercharged 416 or 418 for cheaper than an Lsa unless you go with a used one. Not sure about 700 hp, but to get there you will have to spend Money on the lsa.

Curious,
The ls6 in the car is fully documented (what it came out of, miles, etc...)what is that worth, as a engine/trans package? I'm thinking selling that and get into a used LSA and then tweak the LSA . What cani get for my engine and trans? Keep in mind I wouldn't pull it until the buyer drove it.

What trans do you have?

If it's a T56 I'd say no more than 5k with accessories and wiring. Unless it has really low miles.

Used LSA's may be hard to come by since they were not put into anything but CTSV's.

Isn't the zl1 out with the same LSA?

The LSA in the ZL1 is rated at 580 hp over the 556 hp in the CTS-V. Probably not any major changes for an extra 20 hp.

Yeah but more likely to find one out of a Caddy than a ZL1, lol

A P1sc1 with a decent pulley on stock internals with mid size cam/meth will make 700 all day long... and live for years if tuned correctly

15 years old or not...thats 700 Rwhp and its all up top... which is where you want it unless your drag racing.... all for around $5k on the high end when done right..

Where can I get a p1sc1, injectors and brackets for 5k? Sounds like a good deal.

700RWHP is at the VERY upper end of possible with the LSA charger, if you're stuck on that power level and a roots I would be looking at more cubes in both the motor and blower. Maybe an over bored L92 with forged pistons/rods and a TVS 2300 would be the cheapest rout, but I'd guess $15k all in for the motor alone. Then of course the rest of the drivetrane to handle that power level...

600RWHP is A LOT more attainable with just bolt-ons and a cam swap to the LSA, in case you're not dead set on 700.

lets put it this way. Im like the price of the 600 rwhp alot more than the price of 700 rwhp!!!!!!!!!!! Until i get more info, all roads (price) seem to be leading me to a solid freshened up lsa

used kits go for $3k to $3500 all day on corvette forum indues everything with injectors, bov ect..... then you need a meth kit.. $500 new.. tine if you cant do it yourself..$400-600 and the rest is misc t bolts couplers ect.. fairly simple as long as your rung a corvette bracket setup.. andif not.. you can make spacers for the blower setup to fit anything for less then $50.. A and A superchargers has one of the best prochager bracket out there..
